Change Your Perspective With Better Questions | Aaron Simmons, Ph.D Ep. 68

"Life is filled with unanswered questions, but it is the courage to seek those answers that continues to give meaning to life."

J.D. Stroube

Someone once told me that the value of my questions will directly influence the value of the answers I receive. With that in mind, I always do my best to be conscious of the thoughts I allow to manifest in my head.

Many of us go through life never questioning our own perspective.

Why is it we think a certain way?

What are the reasons for my core values and beliefs?

Why do I do the things I do the way I do them?

These questions can be overwhelming, I know. However, they're also necessary!

They're necessary if we really want to learn what it means to see things from a different perspective. What does it look like to step outside of our bodies for a second and imagine what the world looks like through different eyes?

This isn't about debunking your own views and beliefs. It's about being humble enough to explore other perspectives and expand your own. That is where growth lies. That is how you improve yourself.

Dr. Aaron Simmons has been asking questions his whole life. His journey has led him to Greenville, SC where he is an Associate Professor of Philosophy at Furman University. He holds a Ph.D. from Vanderbilt University and has previously been a member of the faculty at The University of the South (Sewanee) and Hendrix College.

In this episode, we explore the questions that drive us and how we can use them to see the world in a different light. He even completely reworks our understanding and translation of the title of this very podcast!

You certainly want to listen to this episode a couple of times in order to catch the amount of value that's packed into it! As always, share with a friend if you enjoyed the episode. The best compliment you can give us would be to subscribe and leave us a rating of how you think we are doing!
