186: 3 Ways to Advocate for Your Health and Happiness (Like a Cheerleader!) with Barby Ingle

"Yes, you're having a challenge. Yes, you're in the middle of this storm. But you are more than this moment." -Barby Ingle

When it comes to self-care, many people find it difficult to put themselves first. The worst is not even knowing what you are living with. Barby Ingle spent 3 years visiting 42 different doctors to finally give a name to what's been torturing her. And from this experience, Barby found her voice to advocate for herself and for others who are living with a rare disease and chronic illness.

Suffering from a rare disease or chronic illness affects not only our overall well-being but also our job, our relationships, and everything we hold dear. It is an everyday battle that may not be easily seen let alone acknowledged. However, in order to be effective caregivers for others, we must first learn to nurture and care for ourselves. But advocating for ourselves is one of those fuzzy ideas that does not come with a manual. Where do we even start?

Tune in as Ted and Barby share 3 ways we can advocate for our health. They also discuss how we can navigate the changing dynamics of our lives as we deal with constant changes, how to address the emotional, psychological, and social aspects of living with chronic and rare disease, how affirmations dictate how we treat ourselves, and how to have a more positive mindset towards our situation.

Spending time at a hospital isn't always ideal but it's important to advocate for your health and know that you are more than this moment.
