190: Collaborative Divorce: Divorce Without the Drama, Blaming, and Pain with Sonia Frontera

When we think about divorce, it's easy to put all of the blame on our ex. And while that might feel good at the moment, it can ultimately hurt us, our former spouse, and our kids in the long run. When we try and make someone else the bad guy, we get caught up in the blame game. We get caught up in fighting over things that don't matter to us anymore. And it keeps us stuck. It keeps us from moving forward and healing.

But our ex is not the enemy here, and we are not either! But we know that the only person who can hurt us is ourselves. While it is pretty easy to get caught up in the anger and resentment of the situation, it is important to remember that there are ways to approach it so we can come out of the process with a better relationship with our ex and make the experience better for everyone, especially our kids.

In this episode, Ted sits with trainer, author, and divorce lawyer Sonia Frontera to discuss the realities of divorce and the good things that can come out of the process if spouses approached it collaboratively. But first and foremost, unless it is an abusive relationship, the priority should be to save the marriage. After all, it is a sacred union. Ted and Sonia share practical steps that couples can take before even deciding to cut the cord. But the question is, what if in the end, they still decided to push through with the divorce?
