About today’s guest host: Catherine Stratton IWA Educator, Owner of C.S. Selections LLC and Sales Manager for Strade Bianche Wines. Catherine Stratton Wenger was raised in her family’s restaurant business, in Los Angeles. A first trip to Italy in 2001 led to her moving there at age 19 to pursue a degree in Art Restoration in Florence. She achieved a Certificate in Wine Education and Management from UCLA; she is also an Italian Wine Specialist from the North American Sommelier Association and a certified Yoga Instructor. In 2016 she founded Vino and Vinyasa Tours, a boutique travel company focused solely on Italy with winery visits and personal yoga instruction. In 2018, she founded CS Selections a wine brokerage working with several small importers in Southern California. In 2019 she finished second in her course at the Vinitaly International Academy in Los Angeles, becoming Italian Wine Ambassador. Currently she lives in Portland, Oregon, where she works as Sales Manager for Strade Bianche wines, a direct importer of Italian wine, and she manages the Oregon and Southern California markets for Charles Neal Selections, a French importer. Moreover, she co-founded the brand Due Terre Wines – producing certified organic wines from indigenous grapes in Sicily. On May 11 she will graduate with an Executive MBA – beyond the standard business coursework she has specialized in supply chains & operations, startup entrepreneurship, and strategic thinking. They were both very passionate about Etna’s wines, so after a long research, in July 2017 Monteleone project took shape: Giulia bought an old, two-hectare vineyard near the river Alcantara. In the following years Giulia has been focusing on expanding her knowledge of the Volcano through new vineyards which would be the basis for new wines. Today they cultivate around 5 hectares in 3 different Contrada, in the North and in the East face of Mount Etna.
