What the Tech? is a podcast powered by the Computer Science Department of UCalgary. Here to deconstruct complex computer science concepts, bit by bit, and explain what the tech’s going on?

We hope everyone’s had a great summer so far, and that you’re excited for all the great things this fall semester has in store for us.

If you’re a new listener here – welcome!

If you’ve been with us before – thanks for tuning in again! We truly appreciate all your support, and hope you’ve enjoyed the show thus far.

We’ll be back next week with some more regular programming, but we know a lot of the department is busy focusing on getting this new semester started ... so we wanted to take this week to re-introduce the show for those who are listening in for the first time.

On the show so far, we’ve talked to UCalgary professors, and students (both graduate and undergraduate) to get the bottom line on each guest's story, what they do and what this means to you in your daily life.

We explore all sorts of topics - from security and IOT with Majid Ghaderi, retro-games with John Aycock, and we also talk about what its like to intern at facebook with Zain Rizvi.

We also like to keep up with what's going on in the world today. So we talk about things like zoombombing with Ryan Henry, and we also talk about the impact of the pandemic and online teaching with Leanne Wu

Moving forward, we hope to continue shedding light on the UCalgary computer science community, as well as bring in some experts from the tech industry who may have their own perspectives to share!
