Dance, Dorothy, Dance No. 16 - Merrily We Go to Hell (1932)

DANCE, DOROTHY, DANCE, the Dorothy Arzner podcast, nears its conclusion with Marc and B discussing their penultimate film, the 1932 melodrama MERRILY WE GO TO HELL, which was recently released into The Criterion Collection. Arzner's last job for Paramount and last collaboration with Friedrich March, the film stars March alongside Sylvia Sydney as a doomed couple who attempt to endure family pressures, alcoholism, and even experimenting with an open marriage.
