Appreciation & Respect | Episode 60
And…they’re back!! It’s a fresh, new episode of the Big Money Stylist Podcast filmed in their brand new gorgeous studio! This week’s episode is filled with exciting BMS & NBR announcements, as well as baby and post-pregnancy updates, delivered in the classic Danielle & Ani style that you’ve come to love! In Big Money Stylist, we go over the following formula each month: Week #1: Power Week #2: Production Week #3: Profit Week #4: Protection In This Week’s Episode…..PRODUCTION Point #1: “It’s Easy…Anyone Can Do It!” Building, creating & sustaining anything is hard work. Yet, many people have NO clue about what it actually takes to build it. They only see the end result in which they ignorantly & mistakingly believe, “It’s so easy…anyone can do it!” The ladies agree that once you start building something yourself, that’s when you begin to have respect and appreciation for those who have put in the time and work to make it possible … even if you may not vibe with their brand or with them personally. QUESTION How often do you find yourself downplaying or not appreciating & respecting what others have built or created? Point #2: Teamwork & Sustainability When you have a business, podcasts, events, and trainings, it takes a team to pull this off, not just a couple of people. “There’s the face of the brand, and then there’s a TON that goes on behind the scenes that nobody sees.” Wanting the business to grow the correct way AND desiring to have sustainability & longevity is of UTMOST importance to Danielle & Ani, which is what they are focusing on moving forward. QUESTION Where in your personal or business world would a team benefit you greatly? Point #3: Peek Into 2020 The ladies have received a lot of feedback from artists who just want to learn the NBR technique without the BMS business aspect. So…next year, they’re going to start offering NBR only classes! There will be trainers ACROSS THE COUNTRY who will be able to teach, train, and service more artists inside of NBR, as well in BMS…if they desire. It’s all about serving people at the level they’re at. QUESTION Looking ahead into 2020, what are some of the things you will be doing differently inside of your personal or business life? Point #4: DKW Styling Academy The current Mastermind program is turning into DKW Styling Academy where there will be specific requirements artists will have to hit. Graduation will take place after 1 to 1 1/2 years, with the option of testing out if you’re further advanced in some areas. Ani: At the end of the day, our place is to train people in two parts: NBR (the Art) and BMS (the Business). Here’s how to build an entire business so you don’t have to be there every day to succeed. It’s your legacy. QUESTION What are you most excited about the newly announced DKW Styling Academy? Point #5: Taking the Leap Danielle: I think people are scared to start anything, which ends up holding them back. If you’re an entrepreneur or business owner, there’s this moment where you have to jump into the unknown; where you have to free-fall a little bit.. which I did a lot of these past couple of years. Whatever you’re trying to start, I would encourage you to go in with a plan and understand that, at any level, you’re going to have to leap… and then be willing to course-correct. QUESTION Where in your world do you know it’s time to spread your wings and take a leap? Quote of the Week: “If you don’t vibe with me, or if you leave the program…what I care about is this: market your business in whatever way you feel will personally benefit your business and help you succeed. The End.” –Danielle K White “At the end of the day, if you and I do our jobs – and we do it right and we fucking crush it – that means THEY’RE crushing it. And there comes a point where it becomes, “Hi little birdie, it’s time to leave the nest. You’re off into the world!” –Anianne Rivera

Gratitude | Episode 59
In Big Money Stylist, we go over the following formula each month: Week #1: Power Week #2: Production Week #3: Profit Week #4: Protection In This Week’s Episode…..POWER Point #1: Recognize the Wins Danielle: If I could rewind to just three years ago and see me now, I’d be like, “Oh my God! I did it! I made it!” If you don’t stop to have gratitude for who you are or how far you’ve come, you will become a miserable, unhappy person. Inside of that energy, the ability to create and expand is severely diminished. QUESTION In this moment, what is one thing you’re grateful for? Point #2: Things Aren’t What They Seem The problem with social media is that most people tend to only post the highlight reel of their life, which gives a false impression of the way their life really is. Inside of that world, it is so easy to get triggered by what we see as we’re scrolling, which can easily throw us off our game.. QUESTION When is the last time you posted a scene that wasn’t from your highlight reel? What’s stopping you from doing that? Point #3: The Drama Club When people are on the prowl for drama, they don’t always realize they’re being sucked into it. It makes you wonder what else they could be doing with their time, and what amazing things could they be creating. Find something in your life that gives you purpose, something that isn’t drama-driven. Ultimately, drama doesn’t serve you or make you happy. And, it trickles down into every aspect of your life. QUESTION Are you queen of the drama club in your life? How is that really working out for you? Point #4: What Triggers You? Was it a bad day, or was it a bad two minutes that you stretched into a whole day? What are you paying attention to? What triggers you? What are you focusing your energy on? There was a time when Danielle was a slave to her workout routine, so much so that if she didn’t get her workout in for the day, she became Monster Mommy. QUESTION What are some of the things that trigger you and send you into the land of Monster Mommy? Point #5: Gratitude & Intentions Ani: Every morning when I wake up, I write down something in my journal that I’m grateful for. I also set an intention for the day. Sometimes my intention is creation, space, or freedom, while other times it’s just letting the day unfold as it will. Starting my morning like this always puts me in a good frame of mind. QUESTION What are the daily rituals and habits that set you up for your day? Quote of the Week: “We can’t rewrite history, so the time you invest THEN, matters now. It’s important to take moments where you have that quality time with others so that you can live a life where you feel like you’re having moments that matter.” –Danielle K White “I LOVE what you just said that social media isn’t free. You pay for everything in your life one way or another, and not necessarily with money. You pay for it with time and with energy, and that’s massive, which I don’t think most people realize.” –Anianne Rivera

No Shortcuts to Success | Episode 58
From knowing your numbers to recognizing when it’s time to create space for yourself as an Artist, in this week’s episode of the Big Money Stylist podcast, Danielle and Ani take on areas of the hair industry that are vital to one’s growth, success, and sanity. *EPISODE REPLAY* In Big Money Stylist, we go over the following formula each month: Week #1: Power Week #2: Production Week #3: Profit Week #4: Protection In This Week’s Episode…..PRODUCTION Point #1: Don’t Quit Danielle: It’s not until you hit so many “Oh shit!” moments that you actually start having a little more respect for people who have done what you’re doing, even if you don’t like them. Shit’s a lot harder than you think. There were so many times I wanted to quit but didn’t. And in the not quitting, I have become a better educator, a better person, a better mom. QUESTION What have you learned about yourself by not quitting? Point #2: Continuing Education Continuing education is key inside of the hair industry, both for the student AND the teacher. Danielle and Ani agree the more they teach, the more they learn how to become better educators. Ani: By scaling down inside of BMS we’re really pouring into the 250 students we have. Each week we have a small group of 15 students where the attention to detail is making a huge difference in their work. QUESTION Where in your world do you know you need to level up? What steps are you taking do to so? Point #3: Do the Work What has frustrated Ani for so long is when people look at her life and her job and only the fun aspects of it – the podcasts, being on stage, teaching, hanging out with Danielle – and want to experience ALL of that but are unwilling to do the work required. Ani: “In reality, that is a minuscule amount of what I actually do. Everything else I do doesn’t look fun. It’s a lot of work. It’s a lot of late nights, a lot of early mornings. You’re telling me you want to step into the company, get paid as a trainer underneath the umbrella of DKW, NBR, and BMS…but you don’t want to do any work for it?” QUESTION Where in your world are you unwilling to do the work required? Point #4: Know Your Numbers Ani: By the time artists attend BMS, many are nearly through with the industry. They’re working tons of hours and making next to nothing a lot of times. Danielle: If they actually looked at their numbers based off on the number of hours they’re working, even if they’re super successful, a lot of them want to break down and cry. Danielle: When I first started out, I was doing my numbers but they were very vague and were based on the deposits in my bank account. What I’ve learned is the power lies in the ability to look at your numbers and know how to adjust and problem solve so you’re constantly moving forward, otherwise, you’re regressing. QUESTION When is the last time you looked closely at your numbers? Point #5: Create Space to Breathe Danielle: When you own your own boutique, it’s not just the physical hours spent doing the art; there’s SO much more that goes into it. And without a full team supporting you, it’s so easy to run yourself into the ground. Ani: Once you start getting to overwhelm, it leads to exhaustion and irritability. EVERYTHING in your life is affected and you find you don’t have time to breathe. You NEED space to breathe. It’s vital for your sanity. QUESTION Where are you missing out on opportunities because you’re feeling overwhelmed and can’t see the clear picture of where you currently are in your business? Quote of the Week: “Don’t call yourself an educator and an expert inside of education if you don’t have reps educating. If you’re a client, do your research! Whether you’re going to a class or a salon, make sure you go to somebody you feel comfortable with AND who has reps inside of the industry you’re looking to get the service from.” –Danielle K White “It’s so cool to actually see people willing to go forward and do the work without feeling entitled, knowing it’s going to take more than one day, more than one mannequin head, and more than one client to actually become good at something.”

Just GO! | Episode 57
As the doors of 2019 fly wide open, Danielle and Ani are hitting the ground running! BMS University and Mastermind are off to a strong start as the entire crew takes steps to build a strong foundation and an unstoppable team of Elite Artists. The driving message in this week’s conversation is to just jump in and go! Big Money Stylist, we go over the following formula each month: Week #1: Power Week #2: Production Week #3: Profit Week #4: Protection In This Week's Episode.....Power Point #1: Choose In Ani is beyond excited for the changes taking place inside of BMS and has been conducting back-to-back interviews for those applying to the newly revamped Mastermind program. “It’s so cool to see how proud they are after all of their hard work, dedication, and everything they have accomplished. It wasn’t a matter of them paying a fee and showing up; they earned their place in Mastermind.” QUESTION What have you worked really hard to accomplish? How does it make you feel? Point #2: State of Overwhelm Danielle believes that when you’re in a place of feeling burned out or stagnant, one of two things usually needs to happen: either decrease business or increase business. “Both places can be really scary to be in. A lot of times, people a) don’t know where to start or b) they start brain scheming this far out path that overwhelms them. QUESTION What are some choices you can make today to begin moving forward? Point #3: The Power of “B” Danielle: If you don’t know the things you need to change, then going over the facts is one thing you can do. Every time you do that, you discover things that you can improve upon. Start there and then just keep taking the next step. “The power is in the“B” because that means you started. When you start something and are consistent with it, you never know where it can actually take you.” QUESTION Where in your world do you know you need to take that “next step” but have been putting it off? Point #4: Be Willing to Fail Ani has always been one to accept a challenge from Garrett and Danielle. From the very beginning, she has jumped in, no matter what, and recalls a moment when she failed miserably but learned a huge lesson. The ladies both agree that anything you do that you haven’t done before, you’re going to suck at it. The fact that you’re actually doing it says a lot about you. QUESTION What is one lesson you have learned because you were willing to fail? Point #5: Focus on the Basics Danielle: You can’t be given a big break when you’re not ready. You don’t get there overnight; you have to become that person and that character. Everybody wants these big breaks but you really just need to simmer down and focus on the basics first. If you can’t consistently do the small things, you can’t expect to do the big things. QUESTION Where in your world is it time to return to the basics? Quotes of the Week “Take each step as it comes, and you’ll figure things out as you go. Stop trying to have a map of how you’re going to do it all.” — Danielle White “You can never find anything beautiful or amazing, and you’ll never find your place if you don’t start doing something.” –Anianne Rivera

Invest In Your Business | Episode 56
As trailblazers in the hair industry, the White’s are shattering the status quo and are setting new standards with their fresh ideas, proving that if you want to make an impact inside your industry, you can’t go with what’s already been done. This week’s topic? The importance of investing in yourself AND in your business. In Big Money Stylist, we go over the following formula each month: Week #1: Power Week #2: Production Week #3: Profit Week #4: Protection In This Week’s Episode…..PROFIT Point #1: Mom Side Job? A lot of women go into hair believing it to be a great mom side job where they’re able to create their own schedule, be their own boss, and make good money, which is exactly what Danielle believed. While artists learn the “how to’s” of doing hair, no business skills are taught at hair school. Not being business savvy, most find themselves “thrown out into the world” to fend for themselves and end up giving away a lot more of their time than they realize, which ends up taking time away from their children – the very reason they went into hair in the first place! QUESTION What was the reason you entered the world of hair? Point #2: Invest In Yourself Danielle wanted to give her clients a world-class experience but was unwilling to invest herself, in the business, or in her education. “I don’t think I valued myself enough to where I had a price-point where I thought I had leeway to invest in my business.” Garrett: Human beings operate in this really ridiculous way when it comes to business. We expect others to invest in us, yet we aren’t willing to invest in them. Part of the psychology and shift that had to take place with Danielle and the artists that we train was the willingness to invest in themselves. QUESTION What do you do to invest in yourself on a regular basis? Point #3: NBR Is a Feeling, Not a Function “If you have shitty hair extensions, most likely, you’re going to feel even more self-conscious about your extensions, worrying about how they look and wondering if they’re hanging out and showing. But if you have good, customized extensions, you’re going to feel like a rock star.” “As I was creating NBR, one of my goals was to not only have my clients look good in the initial before and after photo, I wanted them to carry the confidence as if theywere growing the hair out of their own heads!” QUESTION Why did you initially seek out NBR hair extensions? Point #4: Invest In Your Business Over time, as her business started to grow, Danielle got to the point where she was wearing one too many hats and realized she could no longer do everything on her own. This led her to begin investing in herself by hiring others on her team. She learned that in handing things off to others, it actually made her look like more of a professional, attracting a different type of clientele, which made it easier to ask for the price point she was looking for. “It’s cool to have an understanding of how it all works, but you’ve got to realize that not every little thing is going to be your specialty.” QUESTION When are you going to begin investing in your business? Point #5: Addicted to Certification, Not Results Garrett: There are a lot of artists who hunt down the certification game. Although they continue to get certified, they continue to be shitty and nothing changes inside of their hair business. They’re addicted to certification, not results. Inside of BMS, we pumped the brakes to assure the quality of the artist AND the quality of the art. If you want a result, then you’ll double-down. You’ll double-down on yourself, on your family, and on your future. QUESTION Where in your world do you know you need to start doubling-down? Quote of the Week: “The minute you flip the switch and recognize that doubling down with time, energy and money on you – and then being willing to do the work required to get results – is the path to getting a life that works. There is nobody that can give you this.” –Garrett J White “You want a leg up in the game? Become a fucking marketer. You’ve got to learn how to represent your work the way you really feel like it is. Stop telling people how good you are, show them!” –Danielle K White

What Would You Regret More? | Episode 55
Welcome to a new episode of the BMS Podcast with Ani, lead trainer of BMS and Krystal, DKW Salon Manager, as they explore the topic of failure and share stories from Artist’s lives as well as their own, demonstrating courage amid the unknown while weighing options between potentially life-changing possibilities. For Big Money Stylist, we go over the following formula each month: Week #1: Power Week #2: Production Week #3: Profit Week #4: Protection In This Week’s Episode…..Power Point #1: Failure When the word failure is mentioned, how does that make you feel? What meaning do you attach to it? One might see failure as not doing anything or not trying. Others might attach a negative meaning to failing when in reality, it can also be seen as growing. Krystal believes you have to fail to get good at something because you’re never good right off the bat. Both ladies agree that people attach fear to failure QUESTION What meaning do you attach to failure? Point #2: It’s a Process Ani: There’s nothing that after three times, you’re going to be good at. You’re going to be a complete failure. You’re going to fail a thousand times over, and not only that, failure’s going to be different for everybody. At every stage of life, failure is going to look completely different, dependent upon the benchmarks you have in place, what values you have, and what your belief system is. QUESTION How has a fear of failure affected your life? Point #3: Sink or Swim Krystal feels that ego plays a part in why people attach fear to failure. “You have this pride and ego inside you, which can help you AND also hurt you. You have to find a balance. It’s easy to have thoughts like, “Oh shit, I don’t want to be a loser. I don’t want to fuck this up.” Ani: “I feel when you’re put inside of that pressure cooker, you either rise or you fucking die; it’s either do or die, sink or swim. I also feel like the more successful you are, the harder it is to take any kind of risk because now that fear is ten times greater.” QUESTION As you look back, how have you handled “sink or swim” situations? Point #4: Complacent No More Before her arrival at DKW Salon, Krystal had been with her previous salon for fourteen years. During the last three years there, she had found herself complacent, which is why she joined Mastermind. Although she had personally worn extensions for years, she had never offered them to her clients. “I’m never going to put this on someone else because I can barely make my own look good…and I’m a stylist!” It was through searching for something better for herself that Krystal found NBR, got certified, and joined Mastermind. “I was thirsty for more. And even though it was super scary to make that jump, I just knew that I couldn’t stay complacent anymore. I had nothing else to lose.” QUESTION What were the circumstances that caused you to move forward when you were feeling complacent? Point #5: Which One Would You Regret More? In response to a recently received email from an Artist who found herself in a less than desirable situation, yet felt paralyzed when it came to taking action, Ani shared the following with her: “I’m not here to tell you what to do, but I’m going to ask you this question: Which one would you regret more? Would you regret staying inside of the “shit hole” salon OR would you regret leaving and trying, whether you “made it” and succeeded or failed? Which one would you regret more?” QUESTION Where in your world do you currently find yourself in a situation where asking yourself this question would be beneficial? Quote of the Week: “I don’t look at it as what am I most scared of, or what am I most afraid of. It’s which one would I regret more, staying or leaving? This question has always kept me going forward.” — Anianne Rivera “If you never do anything, you’re never going to grow; you’re never going to move past that fear. Sometimes you just have to say fuck it and move forward.” — Krystal Coit

The Entitled Artist | Episode 54
It’s the best of both worlds in this week’s episode of the Big Money Stylist where Danielle and Ani come together to have some candid conversations around the topics of entitled artists, being a business owner, and never giving up – even in your darkest hour. For Big Money Stylist, we go over the following formula each month: Week #1: Power Week #2: Production Week #3: Profit Week #4: Protection In This Week’s Episode…..POWER Point #1: # The Naive Asshole During a recent training inside the BMS network, an artist revealed she was the product of a salon walk-out. Now that she is trying to start her own business, she realizes how much of an asshole she has been. Danielle was once that ‘naive asshole’ who didn’t show respect for those who had blazed the trail before her. QUESTION How are you currently being a “naive asshole?” Point #2: It Takes Mad Skills While many think they have what it takes to be successful in business, frequently they lack many of the skills necessary to actually do the job that would make them successful. Many assume they are to going to walk right in and ‘own the world.’ But it’s never as easy as you think it will be…ever. QUESTION In what area do you know it’s time to increase your skill level? Point #3: Risk Takers When it comes to owning and running a business, employees tend not to put themselves in the owner’s shoes and are so quick to judge, not realizing there are a lot of hard decisions business owners must make. At the end of the day, the final say-so will forever fall on the shoulders of the business owners, who are also the ones taking ALL of the risks. QUESTION Are you prepared to take on ALL of the risk inside your next business decision? Point #4: Change the Frame Many people equate change with betrayal, no matter how hard you nail it in that a business has to be successful, and that change is sometimes necessary for that success to happen. If something is not working, putting blinders on is not going to get the job done. A new frame must be established, and those who want to remain in the old frame and are unwilling to move forward with the new one, must be let go. QUESTION What new frame must you step into in order for you to move forward and progress? Point #5: Letting Go of the Noise Ani’s experiences over the past few months had thrown her into a state of chaos. She took a step back and found that it was necessary to drown out the opinions and voices of those who were influencing her in order for her to hear her own voice. Ani: Is that the person I’m going to be, that the minute it gets hard I give in? I give up? We’re all a little bit insane which is why we’re changing this industry. Inside of that, I know I am not done here. QUESTION Where in your world is it time to separate yourself from the influencing voices of others? Quote of the Week: “It’s in those dark moments where your true colors start to show up; where you decide you’re going to keep going even when you hit those hard corners.” — Danielle White “It’s going to get dark, it’s going to get hard, but don’t you dare give up!” — Anianne Rivera

Who Do You Surround Yourself With? | Episode 53
Welcome to the Big Money Stylist Podcast with co-hosts Danielle K White and Anianne Rivera. This week’s episode answers such questions as, “Who do you surround yourself with and why does it even matter? What about feedback? Are you someone who is open to it or do you believe you are above it?” Also, it’s storytime with Ani as she shares more salon stories. Keep them coming! Send your crazy, insane or even inspirational stories to: ani@hairextensionsecret.com In Big Money Stylist, we go over the following formula each month: Week #1: Power Week #2: Production Week #3: Profit Week #4: Protection In This Week’s Episode…..Production Point #1: Who’s In Your Tribe? Who you surround yourself with truly does dictate what kind of person you are and the direction you go. Inside of business, it dictates whether you’re going to grow, progress, push through the ceiling and become someone new OR regress, get worse or never move forward. When Danielle was in Jr. High, she had some shady friends that her mom said she couldn’t hang out with anymore. Some things happened that convinced her she didn’t want to hang out with them and moved on to a new group of friends. Looking back at the different directions their lives took, that was a pivotal decision for her. QUESTION Who do you surround yourself with? Point #2: Are You Isolated? When you’re isolated in a bubble, there’s only so much you’re open to seeing. It’s harder to grow, there’s no one to give you feedback, you don’t get any inspiration from anybody else, and you’re alone. Danielle: As a salon owner, I hold myself to a high standard and expect results from my team which helps everybody to grow together. Working with and training people has upped my game. I feel like I’m setting an example and I refuse to let certain things slide. QUESTION Where in your world are you isolating yourself? What’s one thing you can do today to change that? Point #3: Accountability & Feedback Ani: One of the things students love inside of BMS Mastermind is the accountability factor. It’s very, very hard for people to hold themselves accountable 100% of the time. But what also sometimes happens is once they are inside of the team and are held accountable, they don’t like it. Danielle: Take a step back and ask yourself what the desired outcome is. Once you have that, you might have to reel your ego back in a little bit and find a balance. You have to remind yourself that if you’re signing up for education, you’re signing up for feedback… and you have to be open to it. QUESTION Do you find yourself deflecting feedback or embracing it? Point #4: Ego Ani: You can hear someone but not listen to what they are saying, and if you’re not willing to listen… you’re fucked. It’s hard to hear feedback, it’s hard to feel like you’re being attacked or insulted. And then it becomes an ego thing: how dare you tell me about my work! Danielle: That happens a lot in marriage. I’ll try to give Garrett feedback but I think I come across as if I’m going for the jugular. But even if I try to come across as nice, it’s so hard. It’s natural for your ego to be triggered and offended. QUESTION How do you keep your ego in check? Point #5: Are You a Team Player? Ani: If you’re that asshole who’s sitting inside of a salon as a stylist or as an owner with an “I’m the best” attitude, you’re a fucking asshole. I guarantee you that there is someone in your business that is better than you at doing something…and you have your head so far up your own ass that you’re not willing to hear anything from anybody else. Danielle: I get that I built the business and created the brand, but I can’t do it alone. There’s this balance in the salon where I feel like I can educate people AND I can also ask my team for feedback. Ani: I tell my students all the time: my job is not to tell you what you want to hear. Being inside the culture we have created is wanting to level up and being able to hear feedback. QUESTION As you look inside your life, where are you not being a team player and think you’re above feedback? Quote of the Week: “How I measure growth is by results. If you’re in an education program, you’ve got to ask yourself how open you are to feedback. As you look at the results you’re having, are you seeing improvement? If not, maybe you’re not being as open to feedback as you could be.” —Danielle K White “Between DKW, BMS, and the tribe we’ve built, everyone who’s inside of BMS wants to grow and progress; everybody WANTS to be better. And because of that, everybody keeps growing and moving forward… and that’s what we’re always looking for.” –Anianne Rivera
