How Setting Boundaries Elevates Your Career | Episode 194

Welcome to The Big Money Stylist Podcast!   This week, Danielle welcomes Licensed NBR® Artist, Cat Barco to the studio.   Join them as they dive into the importance of setting boundaries and prioritizing what is important to you.   As a stylist, it's important to put yourself and your family first, so that you don't burn out from lack of balance.   By saying no to clients who ask for a weekend or late-night appointments, you create a space to maintain a healthy work-life balance, and setting boundaries doesn't mean losing clients; in fact, many clients will grow to respect you and your decision.   By setting boundaries, you not only maintain a professional reputation but also create opportunities to maximize income while enjoying quality time with loved ones.   But it's not just about boundaries; valuing your hair services is crucial to thrive as a stylist.    Hair is not just a commodity; it's an art that requires time, skill, and dedication! And you should be paid what your worth!   By recognizing and appreciating the worth of your services (and, more importantly, your time), you attract clients who genuinely appreciate and value your work.    This approach not only elevates your artistic prowess but also sets you apart as a professional in the industry.   To increase the value of you and your services, implementing a process or system for clients becomes a game-changer.   Imagine an application process where clients answer questions and provide photos of their hair, ensuring that you invest your time and energy wisely. Yes, we mean NO in person consults.   Your time is worth more than that!   This not only filters out clients who may not be a good fit but also equips you with information to anticipate and address any potential issues during that first appointment.   By using a systematic approach, you streamline your business and optimize your time and resources. What's better than that?!   Join us as we unlock the secrets to success by setting boundaries, valuing services, and embracing a fulfilling work-life balance! Ready to start your NBR® Journey? We're here to support and teach you how to implement critical systems and processes so you have the perfect work-life balance!   Explore our education options tailored to your needs, whether you prefer the flexibility of online learning or the engaging experience of in-person classes. Always Keep Growing | Episode 192

Always Keep Growing | Episode 192

On this episode of the BMS® Podcast, Danielle welcomes NBR® Educator Julia Ward onto the show!   Letting go….   That is the biggest struggle that we ALL have to face at some point or another.   That is something that almost every entrepreneur will struggle with. You have to always be dialed into the goal you’re striving for.   You have an idea of what success looks like for you. You know the general direction that you’re headed. So, once you hit that, you get comfortable.   Once you get comfortable you  think that nothing else will be hard because you made it. You finally made it & all the hard parts are over.   Wrong.   It's okay to want to be MORE successful. Even though you just hit your goal, it's normal even to want MORE. To think “Now what?”   Our advice: don’t ever be satisfied with where you are at.   You always want to grow and evolve. You are always going to hit those goals, and you want to KEEP hitting goals.   It's not easy, but it's worth it.   You get to a place where you have to just let go. You have to let go in order to see things differently.   When you start to let go, you are also opening  up all this time & space.   It creates mental freedom so that you can have enough space to create what you actually want.   When it gets to the point when it's not fun anymore … you have to let go.   Create space.   Join the NBR® Online Course to dip your toe in the NBR® water OR jump all in with DKW® Styling Academy!   Regardless, we're here to empower you.

Creating Space & Letting Go | Episode 191

Creating Space & Letting Go | Episode 191

On this episode of the BMS® Podcast, Courtney welcomes Licensed Artist Shanna W. onto the show!   When you look back on the last few years, what did your life look like?    Were you able to travel? Spend time with your family?  Were you able to buy & pay for the things you needed to without any stress? What about taking any time off work?   OR maybe you were slaving away behind the chair and working all day long and drained when you would get home for the day. Maybe you still are?...   What defines success for you?   Think about it… once you are able to identify what your dream life looks like, that is when things start to really change. IF you can keep clear boundaries & stick to them.    When you look at your life, you want to surround yourself with people that make you feel good. Anything that doesn't make you feel happy or good. Get rid of it.    Those are called boundaries.    You will show up at a higher level.    You will have more confidence in yourself & your choices.   You will begin to only tolerate certain things. That is when you will start to experience growth.    On the other side of that scary story, you realize it's really not that scary at all.    So let me ask you this… What is the next version of you? What do you have to do today to be the person that you’re seeing as your future self?

Red Flag Clients and Boundaries | Episode 190

Red Flag Clients and Boundaries | Episode 190

On this week's episode of the Big Money Stylist Podcast, Danielle welcomes back Coach Kiki Tobar & Coach Sarah Stephenson where we are talking about real life behind the chair!    The goal of this show is to be real. Where nothing is off limits.    There is a lot of behind the scenes talk & you’d be surprised how much we all have in common. You are not alone.    As artists we often feel alone & think that no one is talking about the things that we are going through. No one is talking about how hard it is sometimes in the life of a stylist. The truth is, it all starts with US & the boundaries we may or may not set for ourselves.    In any industry you're always going to have that ONE person who is a little on the crazy side. Those red flags.    The real question is: how do you find those red flags before they even sit in your chair… ?    If you don’t have any boundaries, that is where you’re going to run into problems. Once you start realizing there are things that you don’t want to tolerate, and won’t tolerate, THAT is when you need to start implementing boundaries.    Once you do, you will find that is where you are going to start seeing the red flag clients for what they are. That doesn't mean they are horrible people, it just means they are not the right fit for YOU.   What you permit you promote.    I know you have heard that before!    Don’t worry, I'll say it again for those of you who didn’t catch that… what you permit you promote. So be careful what you are and are not allowing in your space.    By joining The Academy you can be certain that your investment in yourself will pay off with our tuition-back guarantee!

What You Permit, You Promote | Episode 189

What You Permit, You Promote | Episode 189

On this episode of the BMS® Podcast, Danielle welcomes back NBR® Educator Carlos Alvarez onto the show!   We are just jumping in HOT this week! Showing up as a leader is HARD especially when you know there is going to be drama.    When you can see something starting to come up, the best thing that you can do is immediately address it.    What you permit, you promote.  The reason that you want to stop it as soon as it comes up, is because you’re making sure it doesn't go any further. That is the last thing you want, is for it to get out of hand.    As humans, we have a tendency of being a little passive aggressive. So i’m going to say this angina, for those of you in the back.    What you permit you promote.   It doesn’t matter how big or small your business is, you HAVE to take control. That is the role you are in. You are the leader. Not their savior.    Oftentimes, we are held hostage by our own employees. We are people pleasers and we don’t want drama. BUT You need to let people know who you are, and where you stand and be THE leader.    So,  are you a conflict avoider?  Do you have clear communication? Are you showing up as a leader ?    A leader doesn't back pedal. Remember that it should always come from a place of love. As hairdressers, we want to make sure we are making everyone happy, but you also need to make sure that the energy with your staff has a different approach.    How to lead is definitely something we help with.  By joining The Academy you can be certain that your investment in yourself will pay off with our tuition-back guarantee!
