Season 7: Episode 05: Asma Khan

What an honour to have Asma Khan on this week’s podcast. The star – and only British and female chef to be featured on Chef’s Table on Netflix! Asma is a leader in the culinary world; speaking up about women in food, putting women in the kitchen and making space for us!

She emotionally opens up to me about writing her new book, Ammu, and how it was a dedication to her mother, the love for her mother but also the acceptance of her mother and how she was loved as a child; through food. She was very generous in how she opened up to me, we both got quite emotional discussing her life and childhood growing up in Calcutta.

We recorded 2 days after she had unfortunately shut her restaurant in London; but do not fret! She will be back at a new location very soon!

Asma loves a crisp – but loves bagels more! And so I feel this has only cemented our friendship even more! Enjoy!

I am beyond excited to announce that I have partnered up with Magimix for this season of Crazy Sexy Food!

As the inventor of the food processor, Magimix is a family owned business that has an amazing reputation as makers of quality kitchen appliances and are cherished and adored all around the world by both chefs and home cooks alike.

I remember growing up and always seeing my mum's beloved Magimix on her counter top, and the utter ease of how she used it. Fast forward to today and my beautiful Magimix Cook Expert is literally the most used appliance in my kitchen! This latest innovation is both a food processer and multi-cooker in one machine – it's a game changer for me and such a dream to use.

I think of it as my "personal sous-chef" – I give it all the hard work to get on with so I can focus on more interesting jobs like tasting, flavouring and serving up delicious meals.

And don't even get me started on their ice cream machine, the Gelato Expert – it makes ice cream to rival even the best Italian delicacies! Oh – and if that isn't enough – come September they’re launching a new range of Blenders.

Double Dipping with... Asma Khan

Double Dipping with... Asma Khan

I’m joined by the formidable woman that is Asma Khan. Asma was the first British chef to appear on Netflix’s Chef’s Table and has been at the forefront of Indian cooking in the UK. Her restaurant, Darjeeling Express has taken on many personas and locations since she first opened – more on that in the episode. Her cooking is exciting, but also touches on the traditional inspiration of her country. Asma speaks up a lot about females in the hospitality world and is an advocate for promoting an even playing field. It was a joy to have her back on for a double dip!

Season 11: Episode 08: Candice Brown

This week I’m joined by Candice Brown, the winner and star from The Great British Bake Off, pub landlady of The Greenman in Eversholt, charity campaigner and all round great girl! We sat down just before the Christmas madness and spoke all about her experience on Bake Off, how it changed her life and catapulted her career, and the path she has travelled since. Season 11: Episode 05: Jon Watts

Season 11: Episode 05: Jon Watts

This week comes one of the most inspirational stories you will hear. I’m joined by Jon Watts, who, at the age of 18 found himself in prison. During his time inside, he turned his life around, completed all 3 levels of the Duke of Edinburgh Award and was released as a full qualified chef. He worked at Jamie Oliver’s Italian restaurant before going on to set up his street food stall and catering business. He is now the proud writer of Speedy Weeknight Meals and is a public speaker for various organisations focussing on young offenders and rehabilitation. This is a story that will blow your mind and perhaps see young offenders in a different light; that there is room for growth, second chances and a better life.   @jonwatts88 @crazysexyfood @hannahharley www.crazysexyfood.com   Music by @casnova____   I’m so excited to be partnering with Cheffie on Season 11 of the podcast.    Cheffie is not just a platform; it's a dining revolution.
