60. Letting go of control and embracing putting yourself first to see solutions that are right in front of you w/ Dr. April Brown

Dr. April Brown is a Relationship, Sex, and Intimacy Therapist and Author. In 2005, she started a private group practice where she has helped over 7000 clients. She educates people about intimacy through her podcast called Bringing Intimacy Back and through her ebook series called Improving Intimacy, which is available through Amazon. Lately she has been providing Intimacy experiences through her Individual and Couples Retreats in Costa Rica and Florida.

April’s highlights and Takeaways:

Relationship of self is also so critical in what we do especially with career and occupation
How she started off as accountant and got bored with it
How April listened to her higher power to go into counselling
She ran into a fear of running retreats and doing something new
Despite her expertise she got stuck in answering all of the phone calls for all of her businesses
Big issue is hiring because she doesn’t have the time or the skillset to do it correctly
Because she can’t hire people that stay it ends up being overwhelming
The point of our conversation together came down to she has a very hard time letting go and wants to stay in control
This also doesn’t allow her to put herself first and instead ends up taking on too many demands despite the fact that more obvious solutions could be in front of her
