71.Chasing the Things You’re Supposed to do Often Leads You Away From The Things You Really Want w/ Kim Sorrelle

After starting and running successful businesses including a golf course, event facilities, commercial and industrial leasing company, a grocery store on St. Croix, and more for 38 years, Kim has recently sold the last of her businesses to focus on a brand new career. Her book, Love Is, launched on December 7 and her new passion is to get it into as many hands as possible, speak, teach, and spread her message to have a positive effect on the world.

Key learnings and takeaways:

Kim is a seasoned entrepreneur with vast experience in the brick and mortar space and was having a hard time transitioning online

Despite a very unique story of writing her book, she was ‘chasing’ clout found in numbers and discounting the personal story that got her to write the book in the first place

As we dove deeper into her overwhelm with social media, exposure and book sales it became clear that Kim’s main focus was actually speaking and creating impact with her message than just book sales

She ended up with deeper levels of clarity on keeping the goal the goal and realized that she was hemorrhaging 50% of her time and energy on things that weren’t aligned with where she wanted to go

The realization allowed her the space to reassess what she says yes to, so she can pivot towards actually materializing what she wants
