Episode 493: Chesarae Hall-Fletcher, MA. Vicarious Trauma and The Power of True Listening

Originally from Oakland, CA, Chesarae Fletcher inherited a rich faith heritage. Granddaughter of the late Bishop Vernon Robinson, she began her study of scripture in the African-American Holiness Pentecostal tradition. This early spiritual legacy birthed a deep hunger for intimacy with Christ’s spirit and his word, which led her into over 22 years of the academic study of theology. --- But first, a huge thank you to our sponsor for this episode: Thrive Causemetics Thrive Causemetics was born out of a friendship. Makeup artist and product developer, Karissa Bodnar, lost her dear friend Kristy to cancer at just 24 years old. Kristy’s compassionate and vivacious spirit inspired Karissa to establish Thrive Causemetics, a beauty brand and philosophy that goes beyond skin deep by empowering women. Thrive Causemetics’ products are made with high-performance, skin-loving ingredients that are 100% vegan and cruelty free. For every product purchased, Thrive helps women in need by donating funds and products to women who’ve experienced domestic abuse, to women seeking a path out of homelessness, as well as our women veterans during and after their military service. Mrs. Fletcher is an early career biblical scholar and is currently completing Ph.D. research studies in Systematic Theology at the University of Birmingham, located in England’s UK. Her study focus is on Altar Theology and its role in Pentecostal traditions.  Currently, Professor Fletcher teaches Church History and Graduate Research Methods at Epic Bible College and leads Sabbath and Spiritual Formation retreats throughout the region. She sees Christ-centered theology as a weapon against despair, apathy, and spiritual thirst.  --- The Trauma Therapist Newsletter. Arriving in January!
