Ep 174: Podside Chat - What Are Your Best Addictions?

Ep 174: Podside Chat - What Are Your Best Addictions?

Start Your Transformation Now When you hear that question it catches most of us off guard. I mean, we’ve all grown up hearing about all the things that are bad for us. Too much alcohol leads to alcoholism, gambling can lead to an addiction, sex can be an addiction, and even exercising can be an addiction. The twist in this episode is that yes of course addictions can be harmful but what if addictions could be good and helpful? If that was the case then what would be your best additions? What addictions would help you live a better life? What if you became addicted to those things? Let’s start here. Your brain is designed to create habits and habits can lead to addictions – both positive and negative ones. A part of the brain called the Basal Ganglia is responsible for creating and housing our brain-based unconscious habits and the point of this podcast is that given the fact that the brain creates addictions, then let’s use it to create healthy and good addictions. In this episode, I gently touch upon the brain and its creation of habits but what I want to get across in this episode is that your brain will and does create addictions so pick the most powerful ones that will serve you. Next, we often think of addictions as either chemical or behavioral but rarely do we think of addictions in terms of addictive thinking. SO…..what negative and counterproductive thinking are you addicted to? Worry, anger, doubt, fear, jealousy, envy…to name just a few. As thinking patterns can also become thought addiction patterns, do you sabotage yourself with addictive negative thinking? As I discuss in this episode, there is a way out of this negative cycle of addictive and counterproductive thinking and that way is operating from higher function of the mind which supersedes the brain. Mind and brain are not the same things. And, in this episode, I talk about how important it is for us to “Know Ourselves” as higher functioning beings of mind and spirit and not just the brain-based / habit bases “thinker.” When we operate from higher function of mind, it becomes a lot easier to manage brain-based behaviors that often keep us trapped. Transformational Takeaway: To know yourself is to consciously choose your addictions. Ep 1: Transforming Your Life From The Inside Out

Start Your Transformation Now In this episode you'll discover why you’ve worked really hard, put in all the effort, the hours, the blood sweat and tears and you’re still not getting the results you want. If you’re like most people you are working backwards—working from the “have do be” model. If I had the money then I could hire someone and grow my business. This is a broken model! The model that you want to start working from is what I call “be do have” model. “Who or how do I have to be to do the things that I choose to do to have the success that I want?” In this episode I discuss: Are you working from an identity that sabotages you? How perfectionism didn’t stop me from getting this podcast out How most people are working backwards The “be do have” model (if you’re not using this, you’re sabotaging yourself!) Why people are setting goals in the wrong way The reason you haven’t created what you want to create in life Who are you really? Where were you before you landed on this planet? A powerful question to start asking yourself Transformational Takeaway: What am I committed to and how or who do I have to be to achieve _____?
