Amberin ilmaantumisen jälkeen poliisien kiinnostus kääntyi yhä enemmän Scotin suuntaan. Lacia etsittiin enää lähinnä merestä ja toivo hänen löytymisestään elossa hiipui päivä päivältä. Lopulta maailmanlaajuista huomiota saanut katoamistapaus tuli päätökseen ja epäilty saatiin oikeuden eteen.
