The Dallas Stars defeated the Colorado Avalanche 6-2 in Game 5 to take a 3-2 lead in their second-round playoff series. Wyatt Johnston led the way for Dallas with two goals and an assist in a dominant performance. Roope Hintz contributed a goal and an assist, helping power the Stars’ offensive surge. Mikko Rantanen scored his first goal of the 2024 playoffs, providing a brief spark for Colorado. Dallas capitalized on the power play with a timely goal but still showed room for improvement in that area. The Stars controlled play for much of the game, outskating and outchancing the Avalanche. With a chance to close out the series, Dallas will look to bring the same energy on the road in Game 6 in Denver. The Dallas Stars were shut out 4-0 by the Colorado Avalanche in Game 4. Dallas missed a big early opportunity, failing to capitalize on two power plays in the first 10 minutes. The Avalanche took control after that, scoring first and never looking back. Colorado’s speed and pressure overwhelmed the Stars throughout the night. Goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood was solid, stopping everything the Stars threw his way. Dallas struggled to generate high-quality chances and looked out of sync offensively.
