Join us as we dive into TMD and interdisciplinary collaboration with Dr. Suzie Bergmann, a trailblazing dentist with 30 years of experience in clinical care, consulting, and advocacy for patients with trigeminal neuralgia and TMDs. As one of the first dentists to give a TED Talk on ‘Why is healthcare disjointed?,’ Dr. Bergmann shares insights on the critical role of teamwork in patient care.


About the guest:


Dr. Suzie Bergman is an Adjunct Associate Professor for Pacific Northwest University School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Bergman is a Fellow of the TMJ Foundation, a global consortium and online fellowship program for oral and maxillofacial surgeons, where she serves as Selection Chair, Advisor and Honorary Program Faculty. She is also a visiting scholar at Oregon Health Science University in the department of Neurosurgery, where she is a co-investigator in research surrounding the differential diagnosis of Trigeminal Neuralgia and Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD’s). She has 30 years’ experience spanning clinical care, post-doctoral education, consulting, research, and advocacy for patients suffering from TMD’s and chronic overlapping pain conditions (COPC’s). Dr. Bergman is a member of the American Academy of Orofacial Pain (AAOP), the International Association of Dental Research (IADR) and UCSF’s Pain and Addiction Research Center (PARC). She is a tenured instructor for McGann Postgraduate School of Dentistry, where she developed a TMD curriculum entitled “Twenty-First Century TMD Protocols.” She has lectured for numerous medical and dental schools domestically and internationally. Her current consulting focus is around medical, dental, and behavioral health integration. She received her DDS degree from West Virginia University and holds certificates from University of Kentucky and University of Michigan’s Orofacial Pain Shadowing Programs.
