Illness and Recovering

Day 26. Brené Brown is a researcher and professor who studies vulnerability, courage, shame, and empathy. She has written several books on the topic and is known for her TED Talks on vulnerability and shame. In her teachings, Brown emphasizes the importance of self-worth and the connection between self-worth and our sense of belonging. She argues that our sense of self-worth comes from our experiences of being seen, heard, and valued by others, and that a lack of self-worth can stem from feeling like we don't belong or that we're not enough. Brown also emphasizes the role of vulnerability in building self-worth. She argues that being vulnerable, or opening ourselves up to others, helps us to build authentic connections and to feel more connected to others, which in turn can increase our sense of self-worth. Furthermore, Brown suggests that self-compassion is a key component of developing self-worth. She suggests that being kind and gentle with ourselves, rather than criticizing or blaming ourselves, can help us to build a more positive sense of self-worth. Overall, in Brown's teachings, self-worth is seen as an integral part of our sense of belonging and our ability to connect with others in an authentic way. She argues that cultivating self-worth through vulnerability, self-compassion, and a sense of belonging can lead to greater happiness, resilience, and well-being.
