In this legacy reflection, Diana Zen shares the meaning of Ngày Giỗ, the Vietnamese Day of Remembrance and Commemoration. Through the yearly remembrance of her grandmother, this episode reflects on ancestral root, family continuity, vegetarian offerings, incense, prayer, and the love that connects the living with those who have passed onward.

Rooted in Buddhist understanding, this episode reflects on the 49-day transition after death, the Hương Linh or Soul Essence, and the wish for the deceased to move peacefully into the next Karmic life journey. Ngày Giỗ becomes not only an act of remembrance, but a living practice of gratitude, compassion, family bond, Inner Peace, and continued movement toward Nirvana.
