EP 29. Excel In Common CT Exams: How to Execute Them Correctly

This week's episode, I continue talking about becoming the GO-TO CT TECH with excelling in the common CT exams we do daily and how to execute them correctly. I give you some tips on what you can do today to execute your CT exams correctly.

Topics discussed in this episode:

  • Patient Positioning: Setting up the patient-supine prone, head first feet first, proper centering along the Z-axis, laser light, Zero the table.
  • Protocol Selection: Head WO, PE Chest, A/P With, CTA Head and Neck, Stroke Protocol, Facial Bones, C-spine.
  • Exam Set up: Lines or Box, Starting and Ending Points, Centering the Box/Lines, amount of contrast to be given, timing for exam.
  • Exam Review and Completion: After patient is scanned, reviewing of images to be sure all anatomy is covered, look for any motion, repeat of certain areas if patient moved, proper contrast enhancement.
