The purpose & function behind the Senate position referred to as Senate Parliamentarian

In today's episode of American Political Paradise, I explain the sole purpose behind the Senate's position of having an Senate Parliamentarian as a official in the United States Senate. The Senate Parliamentarian is in the Senate for the role of providing assisted guidance to Senators on if they can or cannot include ideas in a piece of legislation depending on if the concepts follow Senate's budget rules. The current Senate Parliamentarian is Elizabeth MacDonough, who has held the position since former majority leader Harry Reid appointed her in 2012. She has held the position during Republican and Democratic control of the U.S. Senate throughout her time in the position. You might think this position in the Senate is not essential to the upper chamber, however it should be considered important since he/she aides Senators when they are editing or working through a bill they want to pass through Congress.
