KED Talk - Online Coaching Part II with Alex and Blake Bennett

This is the Kendo Enlightened Discourse (KED) Talk podcast where we discuss vaguely kendo-related topics or whatever else comes to mind!

In this episode, we speak with Dr. Alex Bennet and Dr. Blake Bennett, coach of the New Zealand Men's Kendo team, about his article for Sports New Zealand, his approach to online coaching, how to teach kendo, and more!

Dr. Blake C. Bennett (Ph.D., University of Canterbury, New Zealand) is a lecturer in the Bachelor of Sport, Health, and Physical Education degree in the School of Curriculum and Pedagogy at the University of Auckland. Dr. Bennett completed his Doctoral degree in 2016, the field of sport coaching with a focus on the pedagogies of rugby coaches in New Zealand and Japanese secondary schools. He completed his Master’s Degree in Sport Sciences at the Osaka University of Health and Sport Sciences, Japan, regarding aggression and violence in the Japanese martial art of Kendo.

Dr. Bennett has coached for over 20 years, leads the Education Task Force of the New Zealand Kendo Federation, and is currently coach of the Men’s New Zealand Kendo Team.
