WELCOME TO CELTIC MUSIC

* Helping you celebrate Celtic culture through music. My name is Marc Gunn. I am a Celtic musician and podcaster. This show is dedicated to the indie Celtic musicians. Please support these artists. Share the show with your friends. And find more episodes at celticmusicpodcast.com. You can also support this podcast on Patreon.

CELTIC PODCAST NEWS

Irish & Celtic Music Live Streams. Live stream concerts seem the way of the world right now. But the biggest challenge is finding out who's doing them. I haven't seen a resource for Celtic concerts. I am trying to make one available.

I set up a Google Calendar. Celtic artists can add their own events to the calendar to share their live streaming concerts. View the calendar here.

I created a blog about how to support Celtic artists in the time of COVID-19. It's actually not a bit different from how to support artists at any time. Read it here.

Get the free Irish & Celtic Music Podcast app on iTunes and on Amazon.

You can enjoy more great music and stories from Marc Gunn through the Pub Songs Podcast.

A bunch of Celtic musicians joined Patreon since the pandemic started. It's a great site for artists as well for podcasts. But how do you find them? I published a blog a couple weeks ago with links to all of the Celtic patreons pages I could find. You'll find a link in the shownotes. If there's an artist missing, please let me know.

THANK YOU PATRONS OF THE PODCAST!
Because of Your kind and generous support, this show comes out every week. Your generosity funds the creation, promotion and production of the show. It allows us to attract new listeners and to help our community grow.

As a patron, you get to hear episodes before regular listeners. When we hit a milestone, you get an extra-long episode. You can pledge a dollar or more per episode and cap how much you want to spend each month over on Patreon.

Your contribution also allows us to support the Middle Tennessee Highland Games & Celtic Festival on September 12-13 and the Texas Scottish Festival on October 16-18.

A special thanks to our newest patrons: Andrew Daugherty, Thom McCain, Jennifer Kranenburg-Yip, J Devine

You can become a generous Patron of the Podcast on Patreon at SongHenge.com.

TRAVEL WITH CELTIC INVASION VACATIONS
Every year, I take a small group of Celtic music fans on the relaxing adventure of a lifetime. We don't see everything. Instead, we stay in one area. We get to know the region through its culture, history, and legends. You can join us with an auditory and visual adventure through podcasts and videos. Ugar Orak emailed: "Hi from Turkey:) I just discover your podcasts and i love it. Thanks for that. I would like to ask why i can't find the podcast on spotify. will you come to spotify?"

Bryan Lewis emailed: "I have been listening through your podcast episodes every day while I work. Best collection of irish music out there! But all of a sudden, Spotify no longer has your podcast!! When I click the "Listen on Spotify" buttons on your site and facebook page a spotify page comes up with [object] [object] and doesn't open spotify. Am I doing something wrong? has it been removed? I found you in Apple podcasts but there are no episodes after 10/2019. So worried I'm not going to get to listen to the last 6 months! Thanks!"

I told Bryan about our free iPhone and Android app.

"Ooooh! An App! Fantastic. Sorry about the spotify thing. ?? THANK YOU!!! Just finished downloading it. brilliant. I like having a dedicated app for you even better. Thanks for the great work and giving me a soundtrack for my life. ??"

Craig Backus emailed: "Marc, I've been wondering about listening to and supporting my favorite artists.... I have a pretty wide taste in music, and I often buy albums (albeit from Apple) but the whole album....

Since I'm a prime member, I keep getting ads from Amazon Music that their app includes access to millions of songs for $10 a month! I'm sure artists see some benefit from it, but I don't know. For example, I saw that Lucinda Williams has a new album out. I've never actually bought any of her music, but have heard her many times on Tom Petty radio on SiriusXM. I went to her website to get a feel for how she sells music, and she's basically included links to every music streaming and download site.

I thought that artists might make more from direct sales, but it doesn't seem like they are set up for that. Perhaps it's more cost-prohibitive to have someone process orders than to just wait for streaming royalties and to go out on tour?

I don't know...... I'd be interested in knowing what you think.......

PS I really loved the discovery of "Jiggy" last week. The combination of Celtic music with world beats is different and pretty cool. I bet it will be coming to a scifi show soon! Perhaps a new bar beyond the ring in the Expanse?"
