Episode 27 - Part 1: Getting Connected and the 2019 Freda Hudson Award

WE ARE BACK!

Welcome to Season 5 Episode 1 (PART 1) of the Literacy Quebec Podcast! ➡️ The Freda Hudson Volunteer Recognition Award and Getting Connected.

In this weeks episode, first up Chris gets the chance to interview Gordon Cook, the 2019 winner of the Freda Hudson Volunteer Recognition Award, as well as Gordon's math student Stella and amazing TLE staff member Enza from The Learning Exchange to discuss their positive experience in working with Gordon 🏆

🎙 We get the chance to chat with Krish from the Western Quebec Literacy Council (WQLC) about how their organization has adapted to COVID-19, heading online in the Fall, to supplying their adult learners computer / devices in order to stay connected using online tutoring!

💻 COVID-19 has exposed holes in many Canadians lacking internet connectivity, so we interviewed members of the Get Canada Connected coalition to have the conversation on their advocacy work and Government talks in making the internet accessible and affordable for all Canadians! In PART 1 we interview Raph Yoyo from ACORN Canada, an independent national organization representing low and moderate-income families.

🎙 Finally, Jaimie interviews Mark Goldberg who has worked in the telecommunications industry for the last four decades for an interesting conversation about telecommunications policy and its effect on affordable internet access.

Please head to the Literacy Quebec website for Upcoming Events which may have been modified due to COVID-19 and the Summer period where many of our members close to enjoy the sun!
