Ep: 321 - The Battleground Within: How Wild Ops Challenges Combat Veterans to Break Free

On this episode of The Decision Hour, our guest Jeff Morris delves into the topic of combat veterans and the challenges they face when seeking help. Jeff discusses the program he started called Wild Ops, which aims to provide support and opportunities for combat veterans to overcome their struggles. The program is not for veterans who simply want to help others or enjoy recreational activities, but rather for those who are ready to put in the effort to overcome the issues that are holding them back. Jeff invites potential applicants to consider two critical questions before accepting an invitation to join Wild Ops: Can they convince him they need help, and are they truly ready to do the work required? Jeff emphasizes the importance of connecting veterans with other combat veterans or someone close to them who can understand and communicate effectively. This connection, along with the challenging experiences provided by Wild Ops, helps draw veterans out of isolation and into a supportive community.

In addition to the profound impact of the program, Jeff shares some of the key values and principles that guide Wild Ops. The program aims to call forth the warrior spirit within the veterans, challenging them rather than coddling them. The mission statement of Wild Ops, "get free or die," was written by combat veterans themselves, reflecting their determination to overcome their struggles.

Jeff also emphasizes the importance of confidentiality and trust within the program. Through a strict "vault" principle, everything shared during the program remains confidential and never leaves the group. This builds trust and creates a safe environment where participants can open up and address tough issues.

Throughout the episode, Jeff provides insights into the challenges facing combat veterans and the unique approach taken by Wild Ops to support them. Listeners are encouraged to visit the Wild Ops website, call their 800 number, or apply online to learn more about the program and how they can support this mission.

Join us on this episode of The Decision Hour as we explore the innovative and impactful work being done by Jeff Morris and the Wild Ops program to empower combat veterans and help them overcome their struggles.
