Friday, March 25th, 1988, Lisa got in her Honda and headed north. She would take Interstate 25 to Casper, Wyoming, and from there she would take the mostly two-lane US-20/26 to Greybull, where she would then finish the trip at her boyfriend's house in Cody, Wyoming, on US14. She’d planned to stay the night there and make the remaining hour-and-a-half trek to Billings the next morning with her boyfriend in tow. When Lisa Marie didn’t arrive at Ed's house in Cody, as planned, he was immediately worried and called her parents. Lisa was nowhere to be found. She had vanished somewhere on her 600-mile journey home.Lisa's case would go cold for 14 years until DNA would link authorities to her killer.Join Cam and Jen as they discuss 'Long Road To Justice: Lisa Kimmell'.Thank you to the folks who help make the OTCP greatListener Discretion by Edward @OctoberpodVHS. Today we are going nearby to St Charles Missouri where a local businessman was found shot to death inside his office on June 8, 2007, by a postwoman. As she is on the phone with 911, a police officer drives by and she flags him down. The officer enters the business and finds the man. The officer clearly identifies a gunshot to the head. The man’s name was Robert Eidman and whoever killed him did it, wanted to make sure Bob would see exactly who wanted him dead.Join Jen and Cam on this episode of Our True Crime Podcast entitled ‘The Price of Doing Business: Bob Eidman.’That brand new listener discretion is by the smooth-voiced Edward October from OctoberpodVHS. 168. Made The Devil Do It: The Speed Freak Killers
On a flat and lonely stretch of highway in San Joaquin County, California, in February of 2012, onlookers were horrified as a backhoe violently tore into an abandoned well, nicknamed "Loren's Boneyard." The giant claws of the backhoe rose out of the ground holding a massive amount of dirt and the skeletal remains of the victims buried within—the victims presumably of Loren Herzog and Wesley Shermantine, AKA The Speed Freak Killers. While only convicted of murdering four people, they are suspected of murdering upward of 72 people.Join Cam & Jen as we discuss 'Made The Devil Do It: The Speed Freak Killers'.Listener Discretion by Edward October of OctoberpodVHShttps://www.youtube.com/c/octoberpodhomevideoProducer and Music by Nico Vettese wetalkofdreams.comWritten & Researched by Rett MacPhersonhttps://www.amazon.com/Rett-MacPherson/e/B000APPJ6A?ref=sr_ntt_srch_lnk_1&qid=1654048621&sr=8-1SOURCES:https://charleyproject.org/case/chevelle-yvonne-wheelerhttps://charleyproject.org/case/cynthia-ann-vanderheidenhttps://charleyproject.org/case/joann-hobsonhttps://charleyproject.org/case/tracy-diane-meltonhttps://mail.murderpedia.org/male.S/s/shermantine-wesley.htmhttps://mail.murderpedia.org/male.H/h/herzog-loren-joseph.htmhttps://www.kcra.com/article/hobson-family-sues-s-j-sheriff-over-linden-dig/6402318https://www.sky.com/watch/channel/sky-crime/dateline/episodes/season-1/episode-3https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speed_Freak_Killershttps://allthatsinteresting.com/speed-killershttps://www.courthousenews.com/county-must-face-claims-handling-mass-murder-grave/https://www.mercurynews.com/2012/03/06/speed-freak-killers-cause-of-death-deep-anger-revealed/https://www.thoughtco.com/wesley-shermantine-and-loren-herzog-973133https://www.recordnet.com/story/news/2012/02/18/8216-blood-money-upsets/49731909007/https://sacramento.cbslocal.com/photo-galleries/2012/02/13/speed-freak-killers-victims-and-possible-victims/ Learn more about your ad choices. 167. Dressed to Kill: Hadden Clark
We are headed to Cape Cod where the Montgomery County police just received a phone about a female body on the beach. When they arrive, they found a young woman on her stomach, both her arms reaching into the sand. She was topless and her back was severely sunburned. As they get a closer look, they realize both of her hands have been cut off and part of her face is missing. Police discover she has been out here for several days, with beach-goers simply thought she was sunbathing. The woman had no identification and the media dubbed her the ‘lady in the dunes’. Police try to chase leads but they are coming up empty-handed and the case goes cold. There would be more and the person responsible was someone that no one would recognize…not yet anyway.Join Jen and Cam on this episode of ‘Our True Crime Podcast’ entitled Dressed to Kill: Hadden Clark. 166. The Death of Tanner Ward
On a beautiful Midwestern June evening in 2017, nineteen-year-old Tanner Scott Ward told his mom, Lisa, he was headed out to see his friend, Jeremiah, and to fix him a plate for dinner because he’d only be gone about thirty minutes. He kissed his baby girl, Sophia, and left on foot with only the clothes on his back. It was the last time his family would see him alive.Six months later Tanner's body would be found hanging from a tree not far from his home. Tanner's death is ruled a suicide but the Ward family vehemently rejects the ruling. Considering some of the conflicting reports, it’s easy to understand their frustration. 165. The Eyes Have It: Charles Albright
Today we are headed to the outskirts of Dallas to a seedy area known as Oak Cliff, where income is low, and crime is high. It is 1990, and gangs, drugs, and sex workers frequent the area. Crack was big, and people would do almost anything to get it, including selling themselves for enough money to get a hit of crack, and then the cycle would repeat itself. Officer Regina Smith is on duty on December 13, 1990, when a call comes in pertaining to a body. It was a sex worker by the name of Mary Pratt. Her body was found on a street laid out for all the world to see. Obviously, the killer was proud of his work and wanted everyone to see her. Mary was a drug-addicted sex worker with the track marks to prove it, but there was something different about this murder, and it was gruesome.Join Jen and Cam of Our True Crime Podcast on this episode entitled ‘The Eyes Have It: Charles Albright.’Listener discretion is by the fabu Edward October @octoberpodVHSThe show is EP by Nico @wetalkofdreams; he is the best.Make sure to check out the podcast ‘It’s Murder Up North’ @murderupnorthListen to their promo during our show.Sources: https://www.texasmonthly.com/news-politics/see-no-evil-3/http://maamodt.asp.radford.edu/Psyc%20405/serial%20killers/Albright,%20Charles.htmhttps://murderpedia.org/male.A/a/albright-charles.htmhttps://web.archive.org/web/20030206063654/http://www.hbo.com/autopsy/episode/episode_5_the_eyeball_killer.htmlhttps://www.audacy.com/krld/articles/news/dallas-historys-notorious-killer-of-prostitutes-has-diedhttps://news.google.com/newspapers?id=fAkgAAAAIBAJ&dq=charles%20albright%20murder&pg=5313%2C5601569https://www.oxygen.com/mark-of-a-killer/season-1/videos/mark-of-a-killer-an-eye-for-murder-season-1-episode-3http://oakcliff.advocatemag.com/2013/08/investigation-discovery-show-spotlights-oak-cliff-serial-killer/http://www.parkaman.com/charles-albright-eyeball-killer/http://documents.latimes.com/charles-f-albright/https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1214469/https://mylifeofcrime.wordpress.com/2011/04/28/serial-killer-charles-albright-the-texas-eyeball-killer/https://www.justiceclearinghouse.com/resource/enucleated-a-case-study-of-charles-albright-the-eyeball-killer/https://documentaryheaven.com/born-kill-charles-albright/ Learn more about your ad choices. 164. Another Girl Gone: Paula Sims
At 11:24 PM on Saturday, April 29th, 1989, police in Alton, Illinois received a call from Robert Sims who said he had found his wife, Paula, unresponsive on the floor of their home, and their six-week-old baby girl was missing. Paula Sims said that she had been taking out the trash an hour earlier when she was confronted by a masked man carrying a handgun. After ordering her back into the house, the armed intruder struck her on the back of the head causing her to lose consciousness. The terrifying incident defied belief because this was the second time someone had broken into the Sims' home and stolen a baby girl. Three years prior, their 8-day-old baby, Lorelai, had been snatched from their home in similar circumstances, only to be found dead. A woman comes out of the river water screaming for help. Frantic and barely able to get the story out, tells the man that she and her two sons were on a boat, and the boat capsized and her oldest son is missing. As police begin to question Judy about the accident, things become questionable from the start. Judy changes her story. In fact, she tells them 4 different stories. She tells officers that they were enjoying the day in the canoe, when they must have hit a tree stump and then tells another officer a snake hopped into the canoe and they panicked and turned it over. It is clear to investigators, things are not what they seem. What authorities do not yet know, is that many things have happened over the years around Judy and they were never what they seem.
