Healing is not Linear

We often think of healing as a linear process: If we get sick, we get some medication or treatment, then we get better and we move on. But the truth is, healing is not linear. It often involves many rounds of testing and learning, ups and down. When we think of healing as linear we can get really depressed and lose motivation when we experience symptom flares. That leads us into a negative spiral. Accepting that there will be detours and setbacks as a normal part of the healing process, will be a more constructive framework.
