In Episode 16, Annie Talks with TV/talk show host, actress and YouTube star Melody Trice of The Melody Trice Show. Melody, originally from the small town Century in Florida, moved to California after years as a beautician in Alabama. Her mantra, “Living Life Unlimited” was a heaven-sent motto by which she lives by every day. Melody stares challenges head on and conquers them one day at a time, making the best of each moment, and living her life as she intends, all while pursuing her lifelong goal of creating and establishing her own TV network. Episode 13 - Annie Talks with Five-Time Emmy Award-Winning Percussionist Emedin Rivera | New CD
In Episode 13 on the Annie Talks podcast, my guest is five-time Emmy Award-winning percussionist, Emedin Rivera -- no relation at all, in case you were wondering. Born and raised in the Bronx, NY, Emedin started playing the bongos at the tender age of 8 years old, due largely in part to his father and uncle who also played the bongos in Puerto Rico. The way in which Emedin plays percussions is mesmerizing as he blends Latin Caribbean with African, Fusion, merengue, salsa, etc...you name it, he plays it. Emedin has recorded with heavyweights in the music industry such as Harry Belafonte, Gregory Hines, Ben E King, Dave Samuels, Latoya Jackson, Vicky Sue Robinson, and the list goes on. Emedin has also recorded LIVE with Larry Coryell, Bob James, Chuck Mangione, Rick Cua, Denise Williams, and that list goes on and on. Emedin is no stranger to music, as you can tell from this impressive list of credits, but he has also "invented" a new type of instrument (with the help of master craftsmen Matthew Smith of Ritmo percussion) which you'll learn more about in the podcast. Be sure to visit his website at www.EMEDINRIVERA.COM, where you can find out more information about the release date for his new record, view his videos, sample his music, and see photos. Or you can check out my website at www.AnnieTalks.com where I will also update Emedin's upcoming release date and more information. Also, to learn more about the Conga Toms™ check out Emedin's YouTube video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7CGUGvK9Io So without further adieu, here now is my conversation with Emedin Rivera.

Episode 9 - Annie Talks About Christmas-themed December Celebrations
This podcast reveals the back stories behind certain days in December that you may or may not already know. As Christmas draws near, I thought it would be fitting to dedicate this podcast to talk about Christmas-themed days throughout the entire month of December. Dec 4 - Santa's List Day Are you on the naughty or nice list? http://www.holidayinsights.com/moreholidays/December/santaslistday.htm Dec. 6 - St. Nicholas Day Named after the real christian Saint Nicolas who lived in Greece. He became a priest then a bishop and legend has it he gave up all his belongings to follow Christ. He gave to the needy, especially to children. The idea of hanging stockings originated with St. Nicholas. He actually three gold coins through open windows of the poor, and one day a gold coin landed in a child's stocking and quickly news spread of this. So every year thereafter, children would hang up their stockings "in hopes that St. Nicholas would soon be there." http://www.holidayinsights.com/moreholidays/December/stnicholasday.htm Dec. 9 - Christmas Card Day A few decades ago, sending Christmas cards through the mail was a holiday "must." It was popular and it meant "status" to those who received them. Not sure who originated Dec. 9, but it was rumored that Henry Cole started this and marketed the term Christmas Card. http://www.holidayinsights.com/moreholidays/December/stnicholasday.htm Dec. 12 - Poinsettia Day, declared official by the Act of Congress. The name Poinsettia was actually in honor of a man named Joel Roberts Poinsett, who died on Dec. 12, 1851. He was was the first Ambassador to Mexico. He brought this color plant from Mexico to his plantation in the U.S. and grew them in his Greenville, S.C. plantation and gave them as gifts to all his friends. http://www.holidayinsights.com/other/poinsettia.htm Dec. 14 - Roast Chestnuts Day We sing about this in the holiday song, "the Christmas Song" - "Chestnuts roasting on an open fire..." This is a fairly new day brought on by Holiday Insights created only recently in 2015. http://holidayinsights.com/moreholidays/December/roast-chestnuts-day.htm Dec. 20 - Go Caroling Day There is no factual information recorded to date, but looks like the World Wide Web recognizes this day as Go Caroling Day, however, a small number of sites report Dec. 19 as Go Caroling Day. I say, pick a day and just go caroling! http://holidayinsights.com/moreholidays/December/roast-chestnuts-day.htm Dec. 21 - Humbug Day This is not so much a real holiday, but one that was created by the folks at Wellcat.com and it is a day that "allows everyone preparing for Christmas to vent their frustrations." You'd have to be in a pretty sour mood to go to the trouble of creating such a day. No gifts for you! http://www.holidayinsights.com/moreholidays/December/humbugday.htm Dec. 23 - Festivus (for the rest of us) Made popular on the show "Seinfeld" and promoted by the character, Kramer, of course. It marks a day for those who don't celebrate Christmas, Hannukah, Kwanzaa or anything else, but rather Festivus is a day for the "rest of us." Haha. This one made me laugh. http://www.holidayinsights.com/moreholidays/December/festivus.htm Dec. 24 - National Egg Nog Day Although it is known as "national" egg nog day, there is no congressional record or presidential proclomation of such a day. http://www.holidayinsights.com/moreholidays/December/festivus.htm Dec. 25 - Christmas Day This is the biggest holiday of the year and according to most songs, the most "wonderful time of the year." It marks the day when Jesus Christ was born, truly the reason for the season. Merry Christmas! http://www.holidayinsights.com/moreholidays/December/festivus.htm ***** MUSIC: "Annie Talks" theme song by Keahi (www.musicbykeahi.com) All music used in this video provided by - courtesy of YouTube Audio Library Happy Little Elves by Audionautix is licensed under a Creative Commons...
