EP83: Releasing Guilt in Motherhood with Renae Fieck

Link to listener survey: https://survey.libsyn.com/minimalistmomspodcast (Thank you so much for taking the time to fill this out!) --------------------------- This week, I talk to fellow podcaster, Renae Fieck. Renae is the host of the The Charis Project. The show was designed to help women bring more space, grace and intention to their lives. She provides a platform for honest conversations with practical strategies that can be implemented to create a life of intention. We discuss her creation of the Charis Project along with the topic of ‘releasing guilt in motherhood’. I personally believe guilt in motherhood comes from a variety of areas (outside pressure vs. internal pressure.) Our conversation dives a bit deeper into how exactly to confront and conquer some of that noise. We discuss: The Charis Project Podcast Transitioning to our conversation on releasing guilt in motherhood, I’m curious as to your own history in this area. As mothers, we’re concerned about our children becoming bullies, bullying others and yet, we bully ourselves and think nothing of it, can you speak to this? How do you self-motivate when you’re feeling mom guilt? How do you tune out the voices/pressure of others that could prompt you to feel guilty? EP82: The 'Yes' Trap with Jennifer Burnham

EP82: The 'Yes' Trap with Jennifer Burnham

This week, I interview organizational coach, Jennifer Burnham. Today, she will be speaking to the ‘what’ and the ‘why’ behind saying ‘yes’! As a culture we’ve become so accustomed to ‘busy’. We believe that the more we say yes, the more we will become. Better mothers. Better wives. Better friends. Better volunteers. Everything will be better. It’s impossible to keep up the charade. Very few of us (if anyone) can balance all of the invitations to busy that come our way. Busy ends up leaving us feeling bankrupt of ourselves. We discuss: How do you know discern what should be a top priority if all the options sound ‘good’? How do we narrow our focus/calendar?  How do 'people pleasers' establish confidence while saying 'no'? When does it become selfish to balance ‘my needs’ vs. ‘other’s needs’? Would you say that our current ‘pace’ is just a matter of using our time poorly? Or is it really a lack of assessment with ‘where our train is going?’ Find all the resources mentioned in this show: Show Notes for EP82: The 'Yes' Trap with Jennifer Burnham Let’s keep the conversation going on our Facebook page or Instagram! EP80: Less-Is-More Parenting with Denaye Barahona

This week, I am bringing you my interview with Denaye Barahona. Denaye is host of the Simple Families Podcast and is author of the new book Simple Happy Parenting. Her refreshing approach to minimalism and parenting is professional yet warm. She believes in a holistic approach to helping the whole family; living well through cultivating a healthy relationship with yourself, family and home. I’ve enjoyed listening to her podcast over the last several years and can’t wait to talk with her today about the idea of ‘less-is-more’ when parenting. We discuss: A definition of simple, happy parenting How do we step away from a skittish mindset and move towards a more free, relaxed relationship with our children? Some would argue: “Isn’t our job to protect our children from any difficulties that are in our control?” How would you respond? Is the 'less-is-more' parenting approach only a trend? EP70: Minimalist Holiday Decor

EP70: Minimalist Holiday Decor

In this week’s episode, we’ll discuss how to be purposeful in our seasonal decorating without being a grinch. You know how it goes. The school year has barely begun and retailers are already pushing holiday decor. Mid-October I walked into Costco only to be caught off guard by Christmas trees and twinkle lights. While there’s nothing wrong with crafting a cozy space to enjoy during the holiday, there is also something to be said about intentionality with what we bring into our homes.
