Helping Dogs with Cannabis with Dr. Casara Andre

In this episode, I speak with Dr. Casara Andre about helping dogs with cannabis. I met Dr. Andre during a dog trainer conference in 2019 and subsequently worked with her team to assist two of my dogs with ailments, injuries, and aging through the use of cannabis. The results were remarkable, and we discuss them in more detail in this episode. Dr. Andre founded Veterinary Cannabis, helping animals with physiological challenges. She also leads Medicine of Wonder, providing a holistic approach to helping animals with emotional dysfunctions. Further, Dr. Andre is at the forefront of researching and exploring the use of psychedelics to help with trauma through Veterinary Psy.

We discuss a wide range of topics, including physiological and neurological applications for cannabis, understanding the basics, and how to get started with exploring it for your pets under the guidance of cannabis-trained veterinarians. We discuss the shortcomings of the current veterinary behaviorist synthetic drug approach (e.g., Prozac and its cousins) compared to the comprehensive wellness approach of training, cannabis, and human counseling. Dr. Andre outlines her comprehensive approach to addressing emotional dysfunction with cannabis through Medicine of Wonder. We also discuss the possible uses of psychedelics for humans and dogs, a highly promising research field in mental health. And more.
