The Story of Delphini: Voldemort's Daughter - Harry Potter Explained

The Story of Delphini: Voldemort's Daughter - Harry Potter Explained

Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today we're going to be discussing the background of Voldemort's (& Bellatrix's) DAUGHTER- that's right you heard me, DAUGHTER- Delphini. Now, if you've only read the original books / seen the original films, then you're probably completely lost right now. BUT, if you're up to speed on the The Cursed Child- Rowling's Harry Potter sequel that follows the children of our favourite protagonists, then you might be a little more privy with regards to Voldemort's unlikely offspring. The most interesting aspect of all of this, however, is that she was purportedly conceived DURING the events of the original books.

The Harry Potter universe is rich with an ever-expanding list of complex characters and intricate storylines, with each new addition to canon adding new layers to the already vast and fascinating world created by J.K. Rowling. One such addition is Delphini, the daughter of the Dark Lord Voldemort AND..drum roll please, the infamous Bellatrix Lestrange. Delphini's existence was revealed in the play "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child," and her character has been a source of both fascination and controversy among fans of the series.

One of the main points of contention for fans is that the Cursed Child simply wasn't well done, and it's popularity has reflected that.

It's marketed as the eighth story- a continuation 19 years POST Deathly Hallows which follows the children of the characters that we grew up with. Main characters include Harry Potter- who is now head of the department of magical law enforcement at the ministry of magic, his younger son, Albus Potter, who's just about to embark on his own journey at Hogwarts, Scorpius Malfoy, the son of Draco Malfoy, and of course Delphini.

But, rather than being made in to a film adaptation, the Cursed Child was made in to a two part play - rather than a feature film. The play primarily comes under scrutiny from Harry Potter fans because of its disregard for the traditional Harry Potter canon.-

Though Rowling has affirmed that the play should be accepted as part of canon- most fans simply won't put up with this. This is for a couple of reasons, first of all-the storyline truly upsets our perceptions of the traditional Harry Potter universe. The notion that Voldemort could have a child when he was born entirely devoid of certain emotions, is just one example of something The Cursed Child did that didn't sit well with fans. The next big issue for most fans is that Rowling didn't write the play all on her own- and because other people had influence on how the play and story would turn out, it seems to be the general consensus that it can't truly be canon.-

On the front cover, it very clearly reads:

Based on an original new story by

J.K. Rowling

John Tiffany & Jack Thorne

But, just for a moment- let's entertain the version of 'canon' introduced by the Cursed Child- and the absurd notion that Voldemort- devoid of emotion and social graces, could POSSIBLY conceive a child with his right-hand-woman and resident wizarding world LUNATIC- Bellatrix Lestrange.-

In this video we'll delve deeper into the background and motivations of Delphini, exploring her origins, her actions, and what her character adds to the Harry Potter universe.

17 Harry Potter Characters LEFT OUT of the Movies - Harry Potter Explained

17 Harry Potter Characters LEFT OUT of the Movies - Harry Potter Explained

Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today, we're going to be discussing Harry Potter characters (from the books) that were that LEFT OUT of the movies. I feel like you can't really criticize the Harry Potter films THAT much. Unless the filmmakers decided to convert the films into a tv series, and devote 20 hours to each book, there isn't really anything they could do to make these amazing movies any better. It's never an easy feat to translate novels to the silver screen, but somehow, Harry Potter successfully pulled it off. - But... in the process, the filmmakers were forced to shave a few of our favorite characters from the final scripts. - And even though they had their reasons for doing so, I can't help but feel that something is missing without these incredible wizards and witches. -So, today, we're going to take a look at some of the characters who failed to make the jump to the big screen, and what they added to the Harry Potter mythos. 20 Times the Books Bomb and the Movies Are Great - Harry Potter Explained

20 Times the Books Bomb and the Movies Are Great - Harry Potter Explained

Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today we're tackling The Harry Potter films VS the Harry Potter books. Now- I was first exposed to the books, they were the first thing that I knew of Harry Potter- and I think that the general consensus among Harry Potter fans is that the books are superior- mainly because they have so much more detail- they're the original story. The films, on the other hand, took some liberties- some characters looked and even acted differently, plot points were omitted, and overall- they were just much more condensed. But, what did you expect? 6 hour long movies? I LOVE the Harry Potter films- I think they're great, and while the books did a lot of things better, and are-in my opinion-superior, it doesn't mean that there aren't things that the FILMS did better than the books. In today's video, I'm going to be touching on 20 things that I FEEL the films did better than the books. For the die hard book fans, try to watch this one with an open mind. This is going to be a mix of longer and shorter points, ranging from single lines/moments that were included/excluded- all the way to major shifts in the way that the films turned out. Without further ado, let's get started... See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

What If Wormtail Never Gave Voldemort the Potter’s Location - Harry Potter Theory

What If Wormtail Never Gave Voldemort the Potter’s Location - Harry Potter Theory

Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today we're discussing Wormtail, Voldemort, The Potters, and the fabled Prophecy. More specifically, we're going to be addressing one very big question: WHAT IF Wormtail NEVER betrayed the Potters? When Peter Pettigrew first came to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, it is said that the Sorting Hat took an entire five minutes before deciding to place him in Gryffindor. As we are to understand it, the Hat was wavering between Gryffindor and Slytherin, showing very early on that Pettigrew had inclinations towards the characteristics most seen in students of the green and silver House. That later became obvious after Sirius Black revealed Peter to be a traitor and Death Eater who had framed him for Pettigrew’s crimes, faked his own death, and lived as a rat for 12 years, Peter was actually quite clever, ambitious, and resourceful – the main characteristics of a Slytherin pupil. In any case, having been sorted into Gryffindor, he very obviously lacked the qualities of his fellow House mates – he was not particularly brave or courageous, and being that he was somewhat of an underdog himself, he never stood up for the “little guy.” See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Why Ravenclaw’s Mascot Is NOT a Raven (2 THEORIES) - Harry Potter Theory

Why Ravenclaw’s Mascot Is NOT a Raven (2 THEORIES) - Harry Potter Theory

Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today we’re discussing the Hogwarts house system- specifically, Ravenclaw house. Now, as we all know, the four houses of Hogwarts can be identified by very unique, defining characteristics- characteristics that allow these houses to stand out from the others. Hufflepuffs are known for their loyalty and hard-work, Gryffindors for their bravery, Slytherins for their cunning, and Ravenclaws for their knowledge and wisdom. Of course- I am talking in generalizations here- but if the sorting hat is anything to go by- it’s reasonably fair to summarize the houses based on the traits it preaches. The sorting hat DOES sort students in to houses, after all. See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
