Don't spend so much time and effort improving that you've none left for simply being

Self-improvement is quite a popular endeavor.

There are countless books, blogs, videos, and articles on how to do so.

Some of us don’t care for such resources all too much.

Many of us, however, eat them up.

We love working on ourselves.

We love learning new hobbies.

Practicing new skills.

Figuring out what brings us joy.

Reflecting on who we are.

Meditating on who we want to be.

Doing the work, day after day.

Striving to live our best life.

To be our best selves.

We sometimes overlook, though, why we’re trying so diligently to improve.

Never asking ourselves why we’re putting in all this effort.

Failing to realize that the life we’re working so hard to create is passing us by.

That the person we’re trying to become will never see the opportunity to just be.

Don't spend so much time and effort improving that you've none left for simply being.

All the reading, practicing, learning, meditating, reflecting.

All for what?

To stay at home, by yourself, continuing to do these things?

There’s certainly value in working toward mastery.

On its own, that pursuit can be deeply satisfying.

Yet, there may be more to consider.

Consider what else you have to offer.

Consider why you feel so called to improve.

Consider why you get so much satisfaction from growth.

You are called to live your best life.

You are called to experience.

Called to share.

To connect.

To lead.

To let others learn what you’ve learned.

Experience what you’ve experienced.

Feel what you’ve felt.

And for you to do the same through them.

We’ve all got our unique lights to shine.

We’re all helping to create better lives for each other.

You are worthy of playing a role in that.

A role that only you can play.

Play it.

You’ve got this.
