Wanda Holloway: “Deadly Pom-Pom Mom”

While Jami takes time off from recording MURDERISH during the Holidays, we’re releasing an episode of her other podcast, Lipstick & Lies. In this episode of Lipstick & Lies, Jami walks co-host Melissa Moore through the case of Texas stage mom, Wanda Holloway. In 1989, Wanda went to great lengths to secure her daughter’s spot on the coveted junior high cheerleading team. When her daughter, Shanna Harper, DIDN’T make the cheer squad, Wanda was seething with anger. The socialite stage mom then took steps to make sure Shanna would be on the cheer team the following year. The steps she took, however, would turn many peoples’ lives upside down and end in a courtroom shocker. This is the bizarre tale of an overzealous Texas socialite and cheer mom who’d carefully planned out her life and image, and nobody was going to get in the way of that …even if it meant murder. Lyndsey Vaux Murder | MURDERISH Ep. 24

Lyndsey Vaux Murder | MURDERISH Ep. 24

At 5:24 am on Sunday, May 22, 2016, a 9-9-9 operator responded to a call from someone reporting a person who wasn’t breathing. The caller told the 9-9-9 operator that her daughter’s partner had collapsed. When emergency medical personnel reached the home, they found Lyndsey Vaux unresponsive and not breathing. Lyndsey Vaux died not long after the 9-9-9 call. Investigators could have never been prepared for the information they would learn about the events leading up to Lyndsey’s death. Lyndsey’s story involves domestic violence and coercive control in their most extreme forms. Listener discretion is strongly advised. In this follow-up episode of Murderish, you’ll hear from DJ Fickey’s sister, Amanda. Lisa (host of Eye for an Eye podcast) and I interview Amanda and dive deeper into who DJ was. We also go into more detail about DJ’s case. You’ll recall from “DJ Fickey, Seeking Justice,” episode 20, that DJ’s family strongly believes his death was not a suicide …it was murder. DJ Fickey, Seeking Justice | MURDERISH Ep. 20

DJ Fickey, Seeking Justice | MURDERISH Ep. 20

A series of three calls came into Walker County 9-1-1 the afternoon of October 3, 2016. The caller said a man shot himself and they needed an ambulance. A woman can be heard wailing and screaming in the background …she’s hysterical. An officer arrives on scene shortly after the third call was finished, and an investigation ensued. However, according to the victim’s family, a bungled investigation, misinformation in official reports, lying witnesses and the fact that all witnesses, and the victim, were drug users …led to an incorrect determination of the manner of death. The victim’s family strongly believes a killer is free and no justice has been served in this case. Join me as I tell the story of Donald Edward Fickey, Jr (“DJ”). MURDERISH now has a Patreon page! Josh Mankiewicz, “Bad Boy” of Dateline | MURDERISH Ep. 019

Josh Mankiewicz, “Bad Boy” of Dateline | MURDERISH Ep. 019

This is a very special episode featuring none other than True Crime Legend, Josh Mankiewicz of Dateline NBC. My good friend, Kari Martin of White Wine True Crime podcast, and I got together with Manks and recorded this episode. We talked about murder, relationships, Dateline episodes, Scott Peterson, childhood …and Eminem even came up during our convo. At the end of the episode, you’re going to hear a little ditty that Kari and I wrote and performed for Josh. Once this episode airs, any dignity and self-respect Kari and I had will have been flushed down the toilet. But I have to say, it was welllllll worth it. MURDERISH now has a Patreon page!
