264 - Teacher, Cosmotologist AND getting her PhD. with Olga Payne

Olga Payne has been an educator in Chicago since 2005 where she served as a high school English teacher for 14 years prior to her transition to the elementary level. Oddly enough, she always assumed the trainer role (officially and unofficially) in her previous professional endeavors which positively impacted her subsequent career.

In 2005, she graduated from Chicago State University with a Bachelor's in English with a Secondary Teaching Option and returned to obtain a Masters in Special Education in 2013. While balancing a full-time career, she is currently completing a doctorate of education at Concordia University Chicago.

Her belief that, “All children can learn” is evident through newly curated and tried and true methods. She deems it important for educators to find ways to meet students on their level by using various unit plans with real-life applications -- many of which she’s developed herself. She says the most rewarding part about teaching is hearing from former students about the impact she’s had on their lives.

Olga is currently embarking on new professional endeavors that will provide the opportunity to serve collegiate students.

Outside of education, Olga has developed a love for crafting and enjoys creating handmade cards and constructing fine leather clutches.
