274 - Durable Skills with Stephanie Short

Research has proven that Durable Skills - like critical thinking, leadership, collaboration and communication - are in demand across the workforce. However, all too often, meaningful opportunities for students to develop these skills happen outside of today’s classrooms. This isn’t just an equity issue, it’s an economic one. Building toward a more inclusive future means expanding opportunities in the education system to develop these skills.

Stephanie Short, Vice President of Partnerships at America Succeeds, a non-profit education advocacy organization committed to improving educational opportunities, outcomes, and equity, speaks on the importance of including Durable Skills in education pathways and share details on:

Her personal story of being a college dropout and grinding her way through the hospitality industry in search of a better “grown up” career. Her story is not unlike the millions of students across the country today who are uneasy about the future and desperately in need of a new type of education system to connect them to a meaningful, economically mobile pathway.
