Canada - Pegula, Sinner make statements, but what do they mean?

Canada - Pegula, Sinner make statements, but what do they mean?

Jessica Pegula and Jannik Sinner are the Canada champions and David is back from holiday to talk it all through with Catherine and Matt. In what way did the rain and scheduling affect the women's event? How did Pegula show off just how good of a player she is to overcome Coco Gauff and Iga Swiatek (and Cotton Eye Joe)? And are both players in the US Open Mix or not? Elsewhere, there's chat about what this week means for Carlos Alcaraz, Alex de Minaur and Liudmila Samsonova, a quick look ahead to Cincinnati, and tribute to the retiring Greg Sharko. Gauff and Evans win big in Washington; Thiem takes a big step forward

A fun week of tennis in Washington DC ended with Coco Gauff and Dan Evans as the champions, with both players winning the biggest titles of their career. Catherine and Matt discuss the stress-free experience of watching Gauff as her forehand help up well, her new coaching set up, whether Maria Sakkari needs a change despite finally winning a semi-final, the highlight reel tennis of Evans, and where this triumph of his has come from after a desperate run of form since April. There's also chat about Dominic Thiem reaching the final in Kitzbuhel, Stefanos Tsitsipas continuing his dominance over Alex de Minaur to win the title in Los Cabos, and the welcome return of the one week Masters 1000 event in Canada this week.
