031 | SID GARZA-HILLMAN

Today’s WWRadio guest Sid Garza-Hillman, the Small Step Advocate, is the author of Approaching the Natural: A Health Manifesto, and host of the popular Approaching the Natural Podcast. After graduating from UCLA with a B.A. in Philosophy, Sid was a working musician and actor when his interest in nutrition began. Sid is now a well-known Certified Nutritionist and Weight Management Coach. He works with private clients all over the country and teaches nutrition and healthy living classes to children and adults through his practice Transitioning to Health. He is also the Staff Nutritionist and Programs Director at the Mendocino Center for Living Well located at the Stanford Inn Eco-resort in Mendocino, California.

In today’s super inspirational conversation, we get into everything from how paleo and vegan diets have the same end goal, how design is part of wellness, how being happy is the most crucial part of overall health, how exercise has to be fun or it’s counterproductive, how small steps are the catalyst for major change, and much more!

My favorite lines & nuggets of wisdom: YEP THEY’RE TWEETABLES…Just click right on ‘em!

“In most situations there isn’t even a choice, there’s just the pain of doing what you want.”

“Being happy is natural & if it makes you happy it’s an appropriate thing to do.”

“Think of exercise as movement, it can be as easy as one minute of dancing.”

TIP: To get started on a healthy path just start with a glass of water in the morning. It doesn’t have to be complicated at all. You can build from there, if a diet or plan starts to stress you out then it’s counter-productive.

It’s the same thing with exercise, when you get in touch with who you really are you’ll know what exercise feels good for you. Exercise by doing the things you enjoyed as a child, you don’t need to join a gym to be healthy.
