Are you curious to know the experience of a transwoman? VINS SANTIAGO will walk us through his life to take a glimpse of what it's like. Kuya Vins is now a Christian pastor. He is the first transgender in the Philippines to undergo the so-called sex reassignment surgery in the country. His story has been told in different media including the top TV show "Maalaala Mo Kaya" where he was portrayed by the late Fanny Serano. His story is also told in the book Transformed: Mula sa Pagiging Transwoman. We talked about his childhood, his relationship with his family, being bullied in school as a "bakla" in the 60's, what brought him to Japan to work in bars as a "performer", his eventual "sex reassignment surgery", what's the effect of the surgery physically and mentally. Of course, we talked about his 180-degree turn to Christ to live the life according to the Gospel. We can learn a lot of things from his story.
