Using art therapy to create safe spaces to explore - with Sita Then

Sita Then is an art therapist who runs Flourish Art Therapy, a small, bright studio tucked into a garden surrounded by trees, in Royston, BC.

She invites her clients to her studio, where they might start with something as simple as a line. In the act of putting something on paper, they dare to exist outside of themselves and explore feelings that may be incredibly difficult and tender to express.

"Art therapy, can work for just about anyone, from 5 to 100, of any artistic skill level. It’s a mental health modality that combines the process of art expression with models of counselling and psychotherapy."

In our incredible conversation, we delve into how we can make space to unravel some of the mysteries within ourselves. Sita creates a liminal, safe space for her clients to express their humanity and assists in understanding our own expressions. Art therapy, as Sita explains, is a craft that can open doors we didn't know we had. We can open them if we want to or slam them shut if we need to. She shares insights on the profound shifts that can happen when she works with people. I hope you enjoy this next episode of #EpicLifestyles with Sita Then.
