Ep. 20 - Chillingham Castle

Ep. 20 - Chillingham Castle

Chillingham Castle is a castle that was built in the 12th century and resides in Northumberland, England in a village named Chillingham from which it takes its name. It was initially built as a monastery and then was used as a stronghold mostly for defense rather than offense through the many centuries of fighting between England and Scotland. The Castle sits near the border between Scotland and England and so it was often under attack. Much of the Castle as it is seen today is the way it was originally built with a few additions. It is reportedly one of the more haunted locations in Europe. This haunting energy is not only a result of war, but of the horrific way in which men were imprisoned and killed within the walls of the Castle. Join Denise and Diane as they share the history, tortures and hauntings of this magnificent castle! Moment in Oddity features Coral Castle in Florida and This Day in History commemorates the 200th anniversary of the Battle of New Orleans.

About 1.5 miles off the shores of San Francisco, California lies a rocky island with the infamous name "Alcatraz." Some of the most notorious criminals in American history were sent to a prison built on the island that bears the same name because of the impossibility of escape. But long before the likes of Al Capone, Machine Gun Kelly and Robert "Birdman" Stroud came to the island affectionately nicknamed "The Rock," the island housed a light house and a military prison. Many desperate souls wiled away their lives on Alcatraz Island and many of those souls seemed to have stayed. Those souls include not only prisoners, but banished Native Americans. Some claim a portal exists on the island. Come with us across the cold waters of the San Francisco Bay as we explore the history and hauntings of Alcatraz. Ep. 50 - The Legend of the Devil's Footprints

Ep. 50 - The Legend of the Devil's Footprints

We love covering urban legends and we have another one for this episode. Urban legends can be as recent as the Charlie, Charlie Game that went viral on the internet a couple of weeks ago or they can reach back into the past. The legend surrounding the Devil's Footprints dates back to 1855. The Devil's Footprints is an unexplained mystery that is one of the strangest stories we have ever heard. The only theory that has really survived the test of time is that the Devil paid a visit to Devon, England and made his way bouncing around roofs and yards and such. After hearing the details, perhaps you will come up with your own theory. Was it the Devil? Did aliens pay a visit? Could these be the tracks of a ghost? The Moment in Oddity features the disappearing island of Lomea and This Day in History features the Stars and Stripes becoming America's official flag.
