Bayern Munich will be back in action this weekend after trouncing Benfica in the UEFA Champions League. Facing them will be the Bundesliga’s only team yet to have faced defeat, SC Freiburg. Christian Streich would undoubtedly have a trick or two up his sleeve against Nagelsmann’s Bayern, and will be hoping that his well-drilled Freiburg, who sit comfortably at 3rd place in the Bundesliga table are able to cause the Bavarians some problems.This will be a tactical battle of the highest caliber and will be yet another important test in Nagelsmann’s first season. Bayern Munich picked up a 5-2 win over Benfica in the Champions League in match that easily could have been a four or five goal margin of victory in favor of the Bavarians. Benfica came out swinging early, but punched itself and let Bayern Munich right back into the match. The second half was entirely dominated by the Bavarians as well. Here is what we have on tap:  Julian Nagelsmann’s line-up was wild. Bayern Munich traveled to Portugal, the scene of their UEFA Champions League victory in 2020, to take on Benfica in the previous match-day; they beat the Portuguese side, 0 — 4. The goals came really late in that match with the inspiration being Leroy Sané.Since then, a lot has unfolded; Bayern were taken apart by Borussia Mönchengladbach in the DFB Pokal. The defeat, a record defeat for the Bavarians, 5-0, revealed weaknesses in Julian Nagelsmann’s side, including the inability to play around an incessant press. While that game was a one-off, the back-line did not look too solid against Union Berlin either. Wow, that was enough action to last 3 games. Bayern Munich’s game against Union Berlin in the Bundesliga was nothing short of a spectacle. This is what football fans flock to stadiums for. This was certainly a treat for the football neutral and a big win for the Bundesliga. The Bavarians came out all guns blazing in what was a statement win after the shambolic loss against Mönchengladbach in midweek. This should be a huge morale boost for the team and should help in steadying Nagelsmann’s ship, which has faced some turbulent tides lately.There were a lot of points to talk about, considering the end-to-end, nail-biting nature of this game.
