Bavarian Podcast Works — Weekend Warm-up Show Season 4, Episode 33: Bayern Munich and Joshua Kimmich hit an impasse...now what?; Celebrating Bayern Munich’s 125th Anniversary; An Entertainment Rundown; and MORE!

So...is there anything important going on at Bayern Munich?

Obviously, the recent news on Joshua Kimmich has taken center-stage, so we will dive fully into that situation, while also offering up an appreciation of the club as it celebrates its 125th Anniversary. This is what we have on tap for this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Weekend Warm-up Show:

  • The breaking news that Bayern Munich pulled its contract extension offer from Joshua Kimmich left many observers stunned. What does it mean? Where do the two side go from here? Does Kimmich have other options? WIll Bayern add another midfielder to the mix this summer if Kimmich walks?
  • Celebrating Bayern Munich’s 125th Anniversary — why the club is so important, why so many fans have gravitated to it, and how the club’s Mia San Mia mentality and true “Commitment to Excellence” (sorry Raiders fans) are something that we should all appreciate.
  • A brief Entertainment Rundown featuring an ode to Gene Hackman and some final thoughts on the ending of the Netflix series, “Cobra Kai.”

Bavarian Podcast Works: Preview Show — Bayern Munich vs. SC Freiburg (Hinrunde)

Bayern Munich will be back in action this weekend after trouncing Benfica in the UEFA Champions League. Facing them will be the Bundesliga’s only team yet to have faced defeat, SC Freiburg. Christian Streich would undoubtedly have a trick or two up his sleeve against Nagelsmann’s Bayern, and will be hoping that his well-drilled Freiburg, who sit comfortably at 3rd place in the Bundesliga table are able to cause the Bavarians some problems. This will be a tactical battle of the highest caliber and will be yet another important test in Nagelsmann’s first season. Here are the key points covered in the podcast:My love for Freiburg and why they are so goodA big test for Nagelsmann BayernThe forms of both teams heading into the fixtureKey players and predicted lineupsA final scoreline predictionLearn more about your ad choices. Bavarian Podcast Works Postgame Show: Talking points from Bayern Munich’s 5-2 victory over Benfica in the Champions League

Bavarian Podcast Works Postgame Show: Talking points from Bayern Munich’s 5-2 victory over Benfica in the Champions League

Bayern Munich picked up a 5-2 win over Benfica in the Champions League in match that easily could have been a four or five goal margin of victory in favor of the Bavarians. Benfica came out swinging early, but punched itself and let Bayern Munich right back into the match. The second half was entirely dominated by the Bavarians as well. Here is what we have on tap:  Julian Nagelsmann’s line-up was wild. Granted, Lucas Hernandez and Niklas Süle were injury, but I did not foresee Tanguy Nianzou getting the call, three wingers (Serge Gnabry, Kingsley Coman, and Leroy Sane), Thomas Müller on the bench, and no Jamal Musiala. Bayern Munich’s strong first half that ended on a disappointing note with Benfica’s goal and Robert Lewandowski’s missed penalty. The strong start to the second half that paved the way to victory.  Bayern Munich’s swarming offensive attack.Be sure to stay tuned to Bavarian Podcast Works for all of your up to date coverage on Bayern Munich and Germany. Bavarian Podcast Works S4E13: Bayern Munich’s bounce back weekend; The Bundesliga’s craziness; Favorite Halloween candy; and MORE!

Welcome to a spooky edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works Flagship Show, which was recorded on Halloween. Our staffers had a full schedule, so you were stuck with me to guide you through what happened this weekend with Bayern Munich and the Bundesliga overall. Here is what we had on tap for this episode: A look at what was really important for fans to see from Bayern Munich when they squared off against Union Berlin. The results in the Bundesliga this weekend and who at teams are surprising us. Just a few guesses at what some Bayern Munich players might dress up as for Halloween. I had to check myself before I wrecked myself and only name a few so I did not have anyone hunting me down. My list of Halloween candy favorites (Hint: There is a strong Hershey/Reese’s presence) and why I think Mallow Cups, Mounds, and Almond Joy are underrated. As always, thanks for your support and let us know what you think!Be sure to stay tuned to Bavarian Podcast Works for all of your up to date coverage on Bayern Munich and Germany. Bavarian Podcast Works: Preview Show — Bayern Munich vs. Benfica (Champions League)

Bavarian Podcast Works: Preview Show — Bayern Munich vs. Benfica (Champions League)

Bayern Munich traveled to Portugal, the scene of their UEFA Champions League victory in 2020, to take on Benfica in the previous match-day; they beat the Portuguese side, 0 — 4. The goals came really late in that match with the inspiration being Leroy Sané.Since then, a lot has unfolded; Bayern were taken apart by Borussia Mönchengladbach in the DFB Pokal. The defeat, a record defeat for the Bavarians, 5-0, revealed weaknesses in Julian Nagelsmann’s side, including the inability to play around an incessant press. While that game was a one-off, the back-line did not look too solid against Union Berlin either. Where Bayern goes from here remains to be seen, although goal scoring does not seem to be a problem.Be sure to stay tuned to Bavarian Podcast Works for all of your up to date coverage on Bayern Munich and Germany. Bavarian Podcast Works Postgame Show: Talking points from Bayern Munich’s exciting 5-2 victory over Union Berlin

Bavarian Podcast Works Postgame Show: Talking points from Bayern Munich’s exciting 5-2 victory over Union Berlin

Wow, that was enough action to last 3 games. Bayern Munich’s game against Union Berlin in the Bundesliga was nothing short of a spectacle. This is what football fans flock to stadiums for. This was certainly a treat for the football neutral and a big win for the Bundesliga. The Bavarians came out all guns blazing in what was a statement win after the shambolic loss against Mönchengladbach in midweek. This should be a huge morale boost for the team and should help in steadying Nagelsmann’s ship, which has faced some turbulent tides lately. There were a lot of points to talk about, considering the end-to-end, nail-biting nature of this game. Here are some of the major points covered in the pod: Union’s amazing gameplan and resilient, gritty style of playRobert Lewandowski the phenomenonThomas Müller propaganda, and why he’s the best in his positionBayern’s issues in defense, specifically the right side. Julian Nagelsmann’s absence on the pitch and possible effectsBayern’s return to winning ways, and the significance of the victoryLearn more about your ad choices.
