Dr Robert Cywes MD, Dopamine Fasting Serotonin Loading, Sugar Addiction, & The Truth Behind The Keto Diet & Diabetes :KKP 118

Today we welcome a specialist in Weight Management and Bariatric Surgery for adults and adolescents, Dr. Robert Cywes. He has been doing bariatric surgery for 18 years, performing over 8,000 surgeries. Dr. Cywes’ medical training began in Cape Town, South Africa, where he received his medical degree from The University of Cape Town. In 1989, Dr. Cywes moved to North America and completed a year-long residency in Pediatric Surgery at Ohio State University’s Columbus Children’s Hospital. After completing his pediatric surgery fellowship at the University of Michigan’s C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital, Dr. Cywes was appointed as an Assistant Professor of Pediatric and Fetal Surgery at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee where he did hepatic stem cell research. During this time, Dr. Cywes became increasingly interested in adolescent obesity and the impact of the liver and metabolic syndrome on young patients. Dr. Cywes’ research led to a comprehensive understanding of the toxicity of chronic excessive carbohydrate consumption as the primary cause of obesity and so-called obesity-related co-morbidities, and he became interested in developing a clinical program to treat obese patients using this knowledge. Dr. Cywes relocated to Jacksonville, Florida where he joined the Department of Pediatric Surgery at the Nemours Children’s Clinic and Wolfson Children’s Hospital. This led to a national meeting in Jacksonville where guidelines for adolescent obesity surgery were established. Dr. Cywes established JSAPA to continue his work in both adolescent and adult obesity treatment and surgery, and in 2013 opened a practice in Palm Beach County, Florida. He now works with a highly experienced team of professionals from a variety of medical sub-specialties to better care for obese patients. He has developed the practice into an internationally recognized Center of Excellence for obesity surgery. The practice uses a cognitive behavioral therapy approach that addresses carbohydrate addiction, along with bariatric surgery, to help patients manage their obesity long term. In this episode, Dr. Cywes opens the show discussing the correlation between carbohydrates and toxic drugs. Our bodies do not need to run on sugar; our bodies prefer a keto lifestyle. Also, Dr. Cywes explains effective methods of treating diabetes and what's wrong with conventional treatments. Stay tuned, as Dr. Cywes discusses dopamine fasting, serotonin loading, and how our feedback controls for survival work. ▸ [FREE] 🔥E-BOOK: "The Keto Kickstart Guide: 4 Steps to Burning Fat Instead of Sugar" | http://www.ketokickstartguide.com Keto Kamp Kits: http://www.ketokampkit.com Dr Phillips CBD Oil, Keto Fruit Chews & Topical Cream http://www.drphilliipscbd.com/ketokamp My Favorite Keto Snack http://www.paleovalley.com use KKA for 15% off [01:10] About Dr. Cywes Cywes recognized the connection between carbohydrates and toxic drugs within himself. Addicts are usually not able to see how bad it is within themselves. He moved to Canada, where he completed his general surgery residency and specialized in Minimally Invasive Surgery at the University of Toronto. Also, Dr. Cywes earned a Ph.D. in Liver Carbohydrate Metabolism and the effect of glucose metabolism on liver transplant immunology. Cywes learned that the body doesn’t need to run on sugar. In fact, it prefers a keto method of running. He also learned that fatty liver doesn’t come from the consumption of fat. It happens from infusing insulin and sugar. [10:00] About LDL LDL is a complex molecule. It’s a truck on the road transporting fat on your body. LDL will lay down fat over an injury. HDL will come along and remove the fat. LDL is not causing the injury; it’s desperately trying to heal the injury. Think of the liver like a subdivision. You have all the houses which are the different cells. Tiny roads that go to each house. Think about a bunch of garbage that blocks the road. You can’t get food and oxygen downstream to those cells. Eventually, those cells will die. As you infuse sugar into the liver, you will see that swelling. [14:15] The Difference Between Ketosis and Diabetic Ketoacidosis The difference between ketosis and diabetic ketoacidosis is 5.5 – 6 grams of sugar. It’s half to one gram difference. It’s an incredibly small difference. An apple has 25 grams of sugar in it. That’s a five-fold increase in blood sugar. Think about how resilient the body is to take sugar out of the bloodstream. [16:15] Flaws With Conventional Approaches to Diabetes Nothing fixes diabetes. Drugs just slow down the process. Once someone goes on the drugs, they are told to eat sugar. There is a misconception that the body has to have sugar. If you don’t have carbs going in, then you are not going to have the type 2 effect. If you manage your blood sugar tightly, you don’t have insulin resistance. Chronic carbohydrate consumption will cause resistance. If the body protects itself by resistance, then it doesn’t matter what the source of the insulin is. A1C is an injury to blood cells because they are damaged. [20:35] Effectively Treating Diabetes If we are going to treat diabetes effectively, we have to understand how our body protects itself. We can treat diabetes without sugar. We are relying on people who are dependent on the diabetic manufacturing industry to tell us not to eat sugar. It’s counter-productive. How do you tell people that statins are unnecessary? No one can get their hands on an inexpensive CGM. You cannot manage a type 2 diabetic without a CGM. Yet, because of the FDA, these things are so expensive that people cannot afford them. CGMs safe lives. [23:40] The Best Feedback Instrument to Lose Weight The best instrument to lose weight is a CGM. The worst device to lose weight is a scale. You can eat a tub of ice cream, and the scale will go down. You can do a 24 hour fast, and the scale will go up. As soon as you put the first spoon of ice cream in your mouth, your CGM will be alarming. [26:30] Our Bodies Have Feedback Controls for Survival For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. If something is not necessary for human survival, then it doesn’t have a feedback system. The systems are very complex at the interface level. The human body will use one molecule to create a whole variety of downstream effects. It is ridiculous to tell people to drink water. Your body knows when it needs water - it will rarely allow yourself to get thirsty. There is no need for a mathematical formula to tell us when to drink. Alcohol is not necessary for survival. There is no stopping point for our bodies. That is why we have a mathematical formula for when to stop drinking. The human body has no need to know when you should stop eating. There is no feedback control for the consumption of carbohydrates. People are not fat loading their food, they are fat overloading. It’s not okay to eat a lump of butter with steak attached. Overeating fat will make you feel like crap afterward. Part of keto is allowing your body to tell you when it has had enough. [40:30] Keto is a Metabolic State There is so much bullshit in nutrition science. The best place to go to is understanding the complexity of human biology. Human beings changed to become better with our brains. To develop brain function, we needed a more significant source of animal fat. We hunted and primarily lived on coastlines with easy access to water and seafood. Our brains need animal fat. Human beings evolved to become omnivores. Our primary focus is on the carnivore diet when we don’t have access to animal fat. If you have to supplement your food with pills, then you are not on a complete diet. [48:30] Dopamine Fasting and Serotonin Loading Carbohydrates are a drug and not food. When you get rid of carbohydrates, they will leave deficits. People don’t understand that the main reason they overuse carbohydrates is because they have a dysfunctional relationship with a substance that gives them instant gratification. If you have a rough day and eat a tub of ice cream; then you’ve had instant gratification. Going on a walk requires effort. However, it allows you to process tough issues that drive emotions. A healthy person can focus for 20 minutes, then they give themselves a serotonin break like a sip of coffee or a deep breath. We have lost track of effective serotonin relief. Go for a walk, do something charitable, do something creative. AND MUCH MORE! Nora Gedgaudas, How to Achieve Metabolic Freedom Through Keto & Intermittent Fasting KKP: 144

Nora Gedgaudas, How to Achieve Metabolic Freedom Through Keto & Intermittent Fasting KKP: 144

I am grateful to have here with me, a widely recognized expert on what is popularly referred to as the “Paleo diet,” Nora Gedgaudas. She is the author of the international best-selling book, Primal Body, Primal Mind: Beyond the Paleo Diet for Total Health and A Longer Life. She is also the author of the best-selling eBook: Rethinking Fatigue: What Your Adrenals Are Really Telling You and What You Can Do About It. Nora is an experienced nutritional consultant, speaker and educator, widely interviewed on national and international radio, popular podcasts, online summits, television and film. Her own popular podcasts are widely listened to on iTunes and are available for free download. She maintains a private practice in Portland, Oregon as both a Board-Certified nutritional consultant and a Board-Certified clinical Neurofeedback Specialist. Her latest book Primal Fat Burner was released in January 2017 by Simon & Schuster (Atria). Nora was also the Expert Nutritionist for the international online program, The Paleo Way, (which is largely based upon her work) and co-founded by international celebrity chef, Pete Evans in Australia, where Nora was the first to initiate the now popular and flourishing Paleo movement several years ago.  Nora has also served as a trainer for the State of Washington Institute of Mental Health, illuminating nutrition’s impact on mental health for State healthcare workers at all levels and has also created popular coursework on the Paleo Diet for the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. She is on the board of advisors for PALEO magazine and Ben Greenfield Fitness. In this episode, Nora Gedgaudas dives deep into her background and explains how she started her research on the Paleo Diet – it has limitations, but it’s a great starting place. Nora explains the difference between consuming glucose and our body’s ability to manufacture glucose. It’s like a fire; carbohydrates are the paper and kindling – we need to always worry about where our next carb is coming from. Whereas, if you put a big log on the fire, you can rest easy and not worry. Later, Nora speaks about COVID-19; now is the time to start thinking for ourselves and reach out to local officials and explain that we want our freedom back! 🎓Want to become a keto and fasting pro? [00:30] About Nora Gedgaudas Early on, Nora bought into the low-fat paradigm. One summer, she spent her time near the north pole - living close to a family of wild wolves. Nora was worried about what life would be like without salads and juices. There were no fresh fruits and vegetables. Nora found herself craving fat. Over the course of the summer, Nora lost 25 pounds. The Paleo Diet has its limitations – however, she feels like it’s a rational starting place. Just because our ancestors did something, doesn’t mean we should do it. So, Nora has spent her time researching what an optimal lifestyle should look like for us now.   [15:10] Consuming Glucose vs. Manufacturing Glucose There are enormous vested interests in carb-based foods. They are easy to produce and extremely profitable. Plus, carbohydrates will make you perpetually hungry. Our bodies can manufacture all the glucose that we need. Carbohydrates are the equivalent of metabolic kindling – they are twigs on the metabolic fire. They burn fast and hot. However, they need to be replenished often. Sugary beverages are basically like throwing gasoline or lighter fluid on the metabolic fire. Metaphorically, 99% of our culture is doing this every single day. If all you have are twigs and paper to run your stove with, then what are you actually doing? You are constantly preoccupied with where the next handful of fuel is coming from. People start to develop insulin resistance. Then, you end up getting imbalances in that equation, and your energy will be up and down. What is the alternative? What if you were to take a big fat log and put that on the fire? You’re free, and you can go about your business. You can sleep all night long and wake up refreshed – it is a state of metabolic freedom. Fundamentally, you are going to be a fat burner or a sugar burner. If you want to have a fully adapted fat-based metabolism, you have to stick to it.   [30:45] We Need to Think For Ourselves The real threats lie in things that we cannot see. Companies control our perceptions of things. We need to be willing to do our own homework and go to reliable sources of information that are independent in nature. If we aren’t doing homework, then we are the mercy of wherever the wind is blowing. Nora doesn’t blame people for being confused or jaded. We have to try and find quality and independent science. Also, we need to look at our evolutionary history and use our common sense.   [47:20] What the World Will Look Like a Year From Now If we follow all the rules, things will never go back to normal. There will be a much more authoritarian government in place. If we want to be part of society, we will be forced to do certain things. We all are being asked to wear masks, even though there is no evidence to support it. Healthy people are being told to stay home – why? Nora is more worried about young people who are eating junk food all day. If you’re someone with asthma or breathing impairment, masks are harmful. WHO says masks are not effective.   [59:30] How to Stand Up For Our Rights   We have to be activists and reach out to our public officials. The coronavirus vaccine will kill more people than they save. We need to take responsibility for our lives. We shouldn’t let someone else tell us what will make us safe. Reach out to your local legislators and let them know that this is not okay. Let them know that you want your freedom. This isn’t about pro-vaccination or antivaccination – it’s about freedom!   AND MUCH MORE!   Resources from this episode: Check out Nora’s Website Follow Nora Instagram Facebook Twitter Get Primal Fat Burner Read Primal Body, Primal Mind: Beyond the Paleo Diet for Total Health and A Longer Life. Elena Cardone, Building Your Health to Build an Empire :KKP 142

Elena Cardone, Building Your Health to Build an Empire :KKP 142

Today I interview, an investor, author, public speaker, lifestyle influencer, and empire builder, Elena Cardone.   The Queen of her Empire, Elena has designed, constructed and protected a life outside of the ordinary. She has inspired a legion of followers to create their own empires – lives that are truly fulfilling and beyond the average. She counts her current job as her most important one – Chief Family Officer, where she is loving mother, fierce wife and loyal friend. Hosting her podcast series Women in Power, Elena interviews and speaks with other influential women about a variety of topics – social media, business, health, children, education, government, entrepreneurship, travel, beauty, fashion… and yes, sex! Bestselling author of the book Build An Empire and an in-demand speaker, Elena has traveled the globe sharing her insight, wit and experiences building an empire and creating an extraordinary 10X life for herself, husband and family. The architect behind many of Grant Cardone Enterprises’ ventures, Elena is an experienced businesswoman, entrepreneur and investor with her and Grant’s influence felt with Cardone Capital which is closing in on 10,000 units under management with a real estate portfolio valued at $1.5 Billion. In this episode, Elena dives deep into her background and explains how she fell into abusive alcohol and drug use. One day, Elena woke up and realized that she needed to get it together. Elena speaks about her ability to change and why it’s so essential to have a full schedule, especially during the quarantine. Stay tuned as Elena explains the difference between haters and naysayers and why your opinion is the only one that matters. // E P I S O D E   S P ON S O R S  PureForm Omega Plant Based Oils (Best Alternative to Fish Oil): http://www.purelifescience.com Use ben4 for $4.00 off. [00:30] About Elena Cardone Growing up in New Orleans, Elena had an excellent childhood. After a traumatic fire, Elena lost her childhood best friend. The very next day, she was sent back to school. Elena had no time to acknowledge or process her feelings. So, Elena decided to start self-medicating. Elena dove into alcohol and drugs. Fortunately, Elena never became a drug addict or an alcoholic. At seventeen, Elena left New Orleans and flew to Los Angeles to become an actress and a model. Elena lost eight friends before the age of seventeen. One day Elena woke up and realized that she couldn’t use her friend’s death as an excuse to drink and use drugs. [07:00] About the Ability to Change Elena has the ability to experience change. She isn’t fixed to ideas of how things are supposed to be. Every time Elena has a fixed idea, she has gotten herself into trouble. Early on, Elena had an idea that her relationship was supposed to look a certain way. However, she realized that she needed to let go of that idea and think about why she ever thought it. Then, Elena realized she didn’t need to look to her husband for her own happiness. If Elena was 100% happy, she understood that it would make her relationship evolve. Start looking at your beliefs – are they yours or did they come from someone else? Are you willing to solve your own problem? [12:20] The Importance of Health in Building an Empire You have to generate energy when building an empire. Energy is valuable – you can’t rely on someone else to give you energy. You have to produce your own! Elena takes control of her body – if she didn’t, she would sleep all day. Get Elena’s book, Build an Empire. [16:15] Why We Need a Full Schedule Elena has to have a full calendar. When the quarantine started, Elena doubled her workload. A full schedule keeps her so busy that she just keeps going and doesn’t have time to get introverted or depressed. It’s hard to get stressed when someone is working on a full schedule. We only have so much time – stay busy! When we aren’t busy, the game becomes to attack each other. [19:20] The Difference Between Haters and Naysayers     A naysayer is a person who attacks your strengths. For instance, Elena says people tell her she needs a break. However, Elena has all the energy in the world; she doesn’t need a break. Elena says true friends wouldn’t tell her she looks tired; a true friend would come over and make her meal or take her outside for a walk. Naysayers need to be schooled and educated with what you will tolerate and what you won’t tolerate. Haters are the ones that are actively trying to seek your demise and reputation. When you have confidence in yourself, no one else’s opinions really matter to you. [23:20] Elena’s Keto Experience   Elena has tried bulletproof tea. However, she has never tried a keto thing. She simply doesn’t know enough about it. As a model, she was told to never eat fat. As a result, Elena has limiting beliefs that fat is the enemy. [25:50] What Elena Wishes People Asked Her Elena wishes people would ask her what she could change if she could change anything in the world. Elena says her answer is that women should be acknowledged and valued for their role in society. Women should never be diminished or devalued – it’s hurting society. She hates when people say, “I’m just a mom.” They aren’t just a mom; they are dedicating their lives to the advancement of their children. Dr Benjamin Bikman, Why We Get Sick: The Hidden Epidemic at the Root of Most Chronic Disease―and How to Fight It :KKP 141

Dr Benjamin Bikman, Why We Get Sick: The Hidden Epidemic at the Root of Most Chronic Disease―and How to Fight It :KKP 141

We welcome back, a biomedical scientist, professor, and expert on insulin resistance, Dr. Benjamin Bikman.  Dr. Benjamin Bikman studies diabetes and obesity, and much of what he focuses on is a seemingly obscure condition called insulin resistance. But it's, in fact, not very obscure at all. What is insulin resistance? Why did Dr. Benjamin Bikman devote his career to studying something like this? Well, insulin resistance is essentially two things. First of all, some cells in your body aren't responding very well to the hormone insulin. Second, you have more insulin than you did before, a condition called hyperinsulinemia. Dr. Bikman's research focus is to elucidate the molecular mechanisms that mediate the disruption that causes and accompanies metabolic disorders, such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, and dementia. Driven by his academic training (Ph.D. in Bioenergetics and postdoctoral fellowship with the Duke-National University of Singapore in metabolic disorders), he is currently exploring the different roles of insulin and ketones as critical drivers of metabolic function. He frequently publishes his research in peer-reviewed journals and presents at international science meetings. In this episode, Dr. Bikman dives deep into his book, Why We Get Sick and how 88% of US adults may have insulin resistance. Dr. Bikman speaks about why we have insulin resistance and how you can test for insulin resistance at home. Dr. Bikman recommends that we all have a small blood pressure cuff at home. Then, Dr. Bikman talks all about fasting – what are the best ways to end a fast, what are the worst ways to end a fast, and why "wrecking your metabolism" simply doesn't make sense. Stay tuned, as Dr. Bikman reveals what we can do to prevent insulin resistance.   // E P I S O D E   S P ON S O R S  PureForm Omega Plant Based Oils (Best Alternative to Fish Oil): http://www.purelifescience.com Use ben4 for $4.00 off. [00:40] About Why We Get Sick The more Dr. Bikman studies insulin resistance, the more flustered he gets. It’s something so few people know about. There are three segments of the book: Defining insulin resistance Why insulin resistance matters What to do about insulin resistance 88% of US adults may have insulin resistance because they have at least one out of five characteristics of metabolic syndrome: Expanded waist circumference High blood pressure High glucose High triglycerides Low HDL Get Why We Get Sick: The Hidden Epidemic at the Root of Most Chronic Disease―and How to Fight It [05:30] Signs You Have Insulin Resistance Your skin can be a window to the metabolic soul. Two pronounced skin disorders are wholly connected with insulin resistance: Skin tags Dark spots Infertility and erectile dysfunction can be a sign of insulin resistance. [08:00] How to Test Insulin Resistance at Home Buy a small blood pressure cuff that you can put around your wrist. After fasting, and you notice your blood pressure goes down, that’s a sign of insulin resistance. Insulin controls fuel use. At any moment, it’s a sugar burner or a fat burner. Insulin will dictate that fuel use in the body. Ketones can only be made when the body is in a high state of fat burning. If it takes a long time to measure ketones on a ketone meter, then it may be sign of insulin resistance. If you are in ketosis, your insulin is going down. If your glucose is high, that’s a big question. It could be that you are overeating and snacking too often. Or, it could mean there is an exaggerated hormone response to the fast. [13:45] The Best Way to Break a Fast vs. the Worst Way to Break a Fast A seven day fast is a little extreme. If a person is overweight, they need to be smart enough about doing a long fast. The longer a person is in a fast, the lower the insulin is getting. However, our potassium and sodium pump will slow down. The kidneys wills start to dump potassium – they haven’t got the message to stop. So, the person will risk dying by changing the potassium levels in the blood – it’s lethal! Don’t end a fast on a sugary snack. End a fast with fats and proteins – they have the smallest effect on insulin. [18:30] About Dry Fasting    Dry fasting will stimulate autophagy faster than a wet fast. It can be used very effectively. A dry fast will have a shorter time span. [21:00] Why Fasting Won’t Wreck Your Metabolism   Energy within a living organism is your metabolism. You want your metabolism to be less efficient actually. It’s nonsense when people say something will “wreck your metabolism.” The key to health is to be metabolically flexible.   [22:30] The Difference Between Fasting and Starvation Have you started cutting muscle? Cutting muscle is the difference between fasting and starving. The greatest defender of muscle during a fast is ketones because we need to continue to feed our brains. Plus, our kidneys are working much harder than any other organ. The moment our ketones come online, the metabolism in our muscles will stop. Ketones are muscle sparing. If ketones are high, our muscles will keep our amino acids. 75% of the brain’s energy will come from ketones.   [29:30] There are No Issues with Low Insulin Levels Bikman can’t think of any issues with low levels of insulin. People say low insulin means you are depriving your muscles. There are not a lot of studies on this. In gymnasts, they found there was no compromised muscle strength with the adaptation of a ketogenic diet. Most of the time, Dr. Bikman is in ketosis. However, there are moments when it’s difficult to stay in ketosis. Sometimes, Dr. Bikman’s kids will make him a meal that he ends up eating despite the carbohydrates.   [38:30] About Pathological Insulin Resistance On a ketogenic diet, a person is becoming glucose intolerant. That is not the same as insulin resistance. If a person consumes glucose, it will take longer to burn it. If you have been burning fat for so long and you challenge it with a glucose load, Dr. Bikman says the body will respond to it perfectly. The ketogenic diet isn’t the only way to live. Some people can thrive on a high carb diet. However, if someone is insulin resistant, they will benefit more from a low carb diet.   [44:50] The Optimal Range for Insulin Most doctors won’t test for insulin because they already tested for glucose. Just because glucose is normal, does not mean that insulin is normal. If you are six or below, you’re great. If it is up to 16 then you need to careful. If it’s higher, then it’s time to take things seriously. Some labs will say that up to 30 is normal – it’s not!   [49:15] Breast Cancer is Poorly Understood We know so little about breast cancer. The nature of this disease is change. If you think you’ve solved it, you haven’t. The best evidence is hinting that cancer could stem from energy problems and issues in the mitochondria.   [53:20] Cancer and Sugar Have a Mutual Relationship Cancer depends on glucose. There has never been human cancer found that thrives on ketones.   [55:15] How to Fix Insulin Resistance A cause of insulin resistance is high insulin. So how do we prevent insulin? A low carb lifestyle. Glucose is necessary for human survival – well, we make all we need. Focus on protein and fat! Patrick Bet David, Lesson's Learned From Kobe Bryant, Discipline Equals Freedom, Health Is Wealth :KKP 139

Patrick Bet David, Lesson's Learned From Kobe Bryant, Discipline Equals Freedom, Health Is Wealth :KKP 139

Today, I am grateful to have here with me, someone who went from a humble beginning as a young immigrant escaping war-torn Iran with his parents, to founding his own company, Patrick Bet-David. Patrick has gained a first-hand understanding of what rags-to-riches means and how it is fueled by freedom and opportunity – the core tenants of the American Dream. Patrick’s amazing story starts with his family immigrating to America when he was 10-years old. His parents fled Iran as refugees during the Iranian revolution and were eventually granted U.S. citizenship. After high school Patrick joined the U.S. military and served in the 101st Airborne before starting a business career in the financial services industry.  After a tenure with a couple of traditional companies, he was inspired to launch PHP Agency Inc., an insurance sales, marketing and distribution company – and did so before he turned 30. PHP is now one of the fastest growing companies in the financial marketplace. Patrick is passionate about shaping the next generation of leaders by teaching thought-provoking perspectives on entrepreneurship and disrupting the traditional approach to a career.  Patrick’s popularity surged and created a buzz in the hearts of entrepreneurs all over the world when The Life of an Entrepreneur in 90 Seconds, a video he created, accumulated over 30 million views online (It became a book in June 2016: The Life of an Entrepreneur in 90 Pages ). That video and scores of other videos comprise his library of edifying, educational and inspirational content about entrepreneurship – all available at Valuetainment, a media brand he conceived and founded. Valuetainment exists to teach about the fundamentals of entrepreneurship and personal development while inspiring people to break from limiting beliefs or other constraints and achieve their dreams.  It has been referred to as “the best channel for entrepreneurs.” In this episode, Patrick opens the show diving deep into his story and revealing what it was like to have a relationship with the late, great Kobe Bryant. Patrick explains how the coronavirus pandemic can actually be an opportunity – for instance; his business set a record-breaking month in March. Then, Patrick describes the importance of health for entrepreneurs and why he loves to hire people who have a chip on their shoulder. Stay tuned as Patrick speaks about discipline, writing down your goals, and asking the right questions. Don’t forget to order Patrick’s latest work, Your Next Five Moves. // E P I S O D E   S P ON S O R S  PureForm Omega Plant Based Oils (Best Alternative to Fish Oil): http://www.purelifescience.com Use ben4 for $4.00 off. [00:25] About Patrick Patrick grew his insurance company from 66 agents to 14,000 agents with 130 offices. On the side, Patrick started a YouTube channel. The channel numbers grew to a couple of million subscribers. In the beginning, he would talk about all sorts of things, and it wasn’t practical. He thought about the one word that he knew the most about – it was capitalism and entrepreneurship. The number one word became “entrepreneur.”   [04:45] Lessons Learned from Kobe Bryant Kobe and Patrick spent an hour talking about life. He spent fifteen minutes with his son and another fifteen minutes with his wife. Kobe is simple. He has a level of clarity and focus that none of his peers have. What’s the most significant difference between Kobe and Jordan? Jordan never worked as hard as Kobe did. Kobe wasn’t as talented, so he had to work harder. After the interview with Kobe, a relationship started between him and Patrick. Unfortunately, Kobe died before they could start their next endeavors. Watch the interview that Patrick did with Kobe Bryant: Kobe Bryant’s Last Great Interview.   [13:45] The Coronavirus is an Opportunity Patrick says his business has increased exponentially because of the coronavirus. Immediately, Patrick converted all of his presentations to Zoom. Because they pivoted quickly, Patrick ended up having an advantage. In March, PHP had a record-breaking month. After researching the virus, Patrick was calm and used his confidence to be there for his team.   [19:50] How Important is Prioritizing Health as an Entrepreneur? Twice a week, Patrick hires a yoga instructor to do yoga with his employees. Plus, they also have a fully stocked gym. The bigger the vision, the more energy you require. The more energy you require, the closer attention you need to pay to your health. If you get sick for a week, then you lose momentum. Without energy, Patrick wouldn’t be able to do anything; health is critical.   [23:10] Women and Immigrants Have a Chip on Their Shoulder     When Patrick started his insurance company, his focus was on women, Latinos, and millennials. Why? Patrick loves an underdog. 80% of insurance agents are men. So, Patrick wanted to create opportunities for women. Patrick never wants to be the Goliath in any situation. Being the David allows him to look at the blind spot of the Goliath. If you think like a Goliath, then you will be taken down by a David.   [27:10] What Does Discipline Mean to You? How do you judge someone’s character? Maybe you judge who someone will marry. Your friends will also be a reflection of who you are. If you have four complainers around you, then you are probably the fifth complainer. Patrick can’t be around someone who makes excuses. The same goes for who you decide to go into business with. It shows what kind of values you have. Patrick cares about people who say what they are going to do, and they do it. Discipline is tough to measure. When someone says something, do you believe they are going to do it? If yes, then they are disciplined.   [36:10] What’s Your Why? There are different levels of whys. The first level is survival. Maybe you want to make enough money to move out of your parent’s house. The next level is status. You need to buy something in order to fit in with your peers. It can sound shallow, but it means you’re moving up. The next level is freedom. What would life look like if I had $5,000,000 in the bank?   [44:00] Do You Need to Write Your Goals Down? Writing your goals down works for some people, and it means nothing to other people. Patrick is a visual person. He made multiple different vision boards. No two people are driven by the same thing. Test different things out and see what clicks.   [47:50] Learn to Ask the Right Questions 99% of the time, people aren’t asking the right questions. If you don’t have a girlfriend, don’t ask what it’s like to be a grandpa. It’s irrelevant. If you don’t have a girlfriend, ask how do I find a woman to be with long-term? Ask a question based on the phase you are at, not in the phase they are at. Ask for strategic steps.   AND MUCH MORE!   Resources from this episode: Check out Patrick’s Website Follow Patrick Bet-David Facebook Twitter Instagram YouTube LinkedIn Watch Kobe Bryant’s Last Great Interview Watch Is Ray Dalio Right? Dr Anna Cabeca, Alkaline Keto Foods to Eat, Combat Cortisol & Stress With Oxytocin :KKP 138

Dr Anna Cabeca, Alkaline Keto Foods to Eat, Combat Cortisol & Stress With Oxytocin :KKP 138

I am grateful to have here with me someone who has worked with thousands of women one-on-one to help them understand and improve their health and manage their hormones, Dr. Anna Cabeca. She is committed to supporting women so that they can thrive physically, emotionally, sexually, and even spiritually as they go through the natural and inevitable life shift of menopause. Dr. Anna tackles a host of symptoms: fatigue, depression, weight gain, loss of libido, vaginal dryness, hair loss, and more. She shines a light on this time of change, sharing truths, and finding solutions to restore vitality and joy. Dr. Anna is proud to have published two best-selling books: The Hormone Fix, a groundbreaking holistic lifestyle program for menopausal women, and Keto-Green 16, a comprehensive nutritional plan to staying healthy and slim, at any age. She also spent years developing and perfecting a complete suite of life-changing products and programs. Everything Dr. Anna develops is part of her daily routine and based on exhaustive research and the never-ending quest to find solutions that help women reclaim their vibrancy, sexuality, health, and happiness. In this episode, Dr. Anna dives deep into her story and explains the health journey that led her to reverse both menopause and infertility. After finding a way of keto that worked for her, Dr. Anna realizes the importance that lifestyle can have on our mind, body, and spirit. Plus, Dr. Anna explains how to get more alkaline and why you may want to start testing your urine pH. Stay tuned as Dr. Anna speaks about her love for both MCT oil and Keto-Greens.  // E P I S O D E   S P ON S O R S  PureForm Omega Plant Based Oils (Best Alternative to Fish Oil): http://www.purelifescience.com Use ben4 for $4.00 off. [00:30] About Dr. Anna Anna’s mom died after 15 years of struggling. It inspired Dr. Anna to be an advocate for women’s health. Anna was diagnosed with infertility and early menopause. It took her on a journey to discover what was going on. As a result, she reversed the early menopause and infertility at the age of 41. Anna discovered detoxing. Our liver metabolizes our hormones. The hormone disrupters act as drugs; stress will disrupt our hormones. Nobody talks about reversing their diagnosis. The turning point for Dr. Anna recognized that her lifestyle could be the reason for her diagnosis. [12:50] Finding the Keto Way of Living After losing eighty pounds, Dr. Anna started gaining weight. She went keto immediately but felt terrible. Our urine pH can give signs of how we are doing. Anna’s urine pH was really acidic. It’s not just about what we eat; it’s about who we are eating with. It will show up in our urine. Cortisol can take us down. Lifestyle tweaks will help us with weight loss, moodiness, and sleeplessness. As women transition into menopause, they rely on their estrogen. Dr. Anna said she was going keto crazy because our brain uses glucose for fuel. In order for our brains to do that, we need estrogen. If we don’t have estrogen, then our minds will not function properly. We can use ketones for fuel because it is not estrogen-dependent. [20:30] How to Get More Alkaline Intermittent fasting and no more snacking. We will empower one of our three major hormones, insulin. We are naturally more insulin resistant as we age. It creates an increased risk of diabetes and heart disease. We have to become insulin sensitive. Integrate the concept of alkalization. Choose to focus on gratitude and a positive mindset. [25:45] How to Test Your Urine pH and What to Eat for Alkaline You can get pH paper from your drugstore. Beet greens are the best alkaline foods. Bitter greens can help with detoxification and liver support. Eat your collards without sugar. [28:30] Counterbalancing Cortisol    When cortisol goes up, oxytocin goes down. When cortisol is up for a long time, it shuts down oxytocin. Our burnout can feel like a disconnect. There is a physiology to divorce and grief that has to do with our hormones. When we are stressed, we aren’t going to feel loved. Does this action come from love or fear? [36:00] MCT Oil for Energy   MCT oil will help with keeping us full and satisfied. It will also help us keep our hormones balanced. We cannot sacrifice our fats. MCT oil is a great thing to have when you’re in ketosis. It bypasses digestion and gives you quick energy. [38:00] About Keto-Greens It is a vegan protein-based, nutrient-rich, all-in-one meal replacement that will satisfy your cravings as it energizes and revitalizes you. This delicious shake will help you transform your body to alkalinity – the foundation of sustainable health and wellness. Keto-Greens help support a healthy digestion, removes toxins from organs, and gets protein faster to your muscles. Find Keto-Green® Immunity Boosting Bundle. AND MUCH MORE! Dr Amy Killen, Using Fasting to Activate Stem Cells, Top Anti-Aging Tips, & Boosting Sexual Performance :KKP 137

Dr Amy Killen, Using Fasting to Activate Stem Cells, Top Anti-Aging Tips, & Boosting Sexual Performance :KKP 137

Today, I'm blessed to have here with me, Dr. Amy Killen, Board Certified in Emergency Medicine with 10+ years of direct patient care she has been practicing Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine for more than five years. Dr. Killen is fellowship trained in Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine through the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine and has done extensive additional training in aesthetics, platelet rich plasma and stem cells, hair restoration, bio-identical hormones, nutrition, fitness and sexual health. Dr. Killen is the Medical Director of BioRestoration Medical, a busy clinic with a comprehensive, integrative approach to health located in Draper, Utah. She also works at Docere Medical in Park City, Utah with Dr. Harry Adelson, providing cutting edge regenerative medical treatments for a host of different conditions. Dr. Killen has spoken internationally about PRP and stem cells, as well as sexual longevity and skin health. She also teaches physician training courses, outlining current best practices for using regenerative medicine in aesthetics and sexual optimization. In this episode, Dr. Killen dives deep into her background and explains what inspired her to start working in regenerative medicine. Dr. Killen explains what exactly stem cells are – we all have them, and they are responsible for the upkeep of our organs. There are loads of things that we can do to activate our stem cells, including exercise, eating nitrate-rich foods, and red light therapy. Stay tuned as Dr. Killen gives anti-aging tips and explains how to fix dark circles under your eyes. // E P I S O D E   S P ON S O R S  PureForm Omega Plant Based Oils (Best Alternative to Fish Oil): http://www.purelifescience.com Use ben4 for $4.00 off. [00:30] About Dr. Killen Killen worked in an emergency department for ten years total. She suffered from both stress and sleeplessness. At the same time, Dr. Killen was seeing patients with the same complaints. Amy realized that she couldn’t help her patients until she helped herself. Amy learned about regenerative medicine and decided to quit the emergency department. In the ER, you deal with what you have right in front of you. In regenerative medicine, you focus on five or ten years before disease onset. It may take even a year before her treatment is effective. Killen focuses on skin, hair, and sexual function. [03:30] About Stem Cells Everybody already has stem cells! They are the master cells of your body and are present in every tissue of your body. Stem cells are responsible for the upkeep of your organs. They can send out signals to heal and regenerate. As we get older, our stem cells become less functional. Sometimes, we can lose stem cells in parts of our bodies. We have the ability to activate the stem cells that we have through exercising, fasting, and stem cell treatment. There are signs if you do not have enough stem cells in your body: knee pain, your skin is losing texture, and other things that we associate with aging.   [05:55] Using Fasting to Activate Stem Cells You can activate stem cell production in your body by fasting. Without food, your body will go through stress, and your cells will start to repair. People use fasting to keep their stem cell stores high, so they are more readily able to repair themselves when they need to. The body will clean or get rid of zombie cells. Then, it produces a signal to create new stem cells. Stem cells can multiply and replicate themselves. If you can do multiple day fasts, that would be ideal. Time restrictive feeding is better than doing nothing. Start slow, then work yourself up to several days at a time. [09:00] How to Trigger Cell Production Exercise will trigger cell production. Red light therapy or light therapy will increase stem cell production. Stress-relieving things will also increase production like Tai Chi. Killen wouldn’t be surprised if there were a correlation between meditation and stem cell production. The procedures that Dr. Killen does are not system-wide. She does not treat diseases; she only treats certain areas like joints. If you can put stem cells into your joint, then it will repair that one area. That’s the same with skin, hair, and sexual organs. She takes stem cells from the patient and moves them to a different part of the body. Your love handles have a good supply of stem cells. Plus, they heal faster and have less pain for the patient. [12:20] The Role of Insulin on Aging    High insulin is associated with high cortisol levels. When you have high insulin, your blood sugar is also high. High sugar levels will result in aging. Every part of your body is sensitive to sugar. It will age you faster and cause more inflammation. When the insulin is activated, all your fat-burning hormones are scattered. It could be years before insulin issues are shown in blood results. It’s essential to be proactive rather than reactive. [14:40] Anti-Aging Tips Increase nitric oxide. It’s the primary way to get blood delivered throughout your body. After age 40, we don’t make as much nitric oxide. It affects sexual performance and gym performance. Things you can do to increase nitric oxide: Exercise Eat nitrate-rich foods Don’t use an antiseptic mouthwash Avoid using acid-blocking medications Red light therapy Coconut oil is antibacterial. Dr. Killen says it’s not as problematic as daily antiseptic mouthwash. You can make your own mouthwash. Don’t use it every day. You need the bacteria in your mouth. Use the sun wisely. Protect your face and hands. People who don’t get any sun exposure is a risk factor for death and aging. Getting sun is really important; don’t get burned. Don’t eat sugar. Make sure you are pairing the sugar with fat and protein if you do eat it. Your body thinks a big bowl of rice is sugar. If you are going to eat rice, pair it with loads of fat and protein. [22:15] Fixing Dark Circles Under Your Eyes Avoid allergens. PRP injections can also make a big difference. It will help thicken the skin. Different kinds of lasers can be helpful around the eyes. It’s one of the more difficult things to treat. [24:50] Sexual Health Therapies Killen does a P shot for men and an O shot for women. It will help increase blood flow and repair nerves. Plus, it will increase sensitivity and sensation.   [28:20] What is Perfect Health? You’re not thinking about pain or performing. It means you are not worrying about if your body can do something. You should be able to do what you want to do and be with who you want to be with.
