The Shift In Identity After Having A Baby. Uncut with Holly Nicholson

Quite a while ago now we put a call out for who you’d like to hear on the podcast and the name that came through the MOST was the woman sitting in front of us Holly Kingston/Nicholson!
We initially got to know Holly when she found love with Jimmy on the bachelor and they’ve gone on to get married and break the bachelor girl baby spell with their son Lenny!

“Once you have a baby, your relationship will never be the same” seems to be a tale told to a lot of expecting mums. And it’s true, but there are a few parts left out of that narrative. Holly and Laura ran into each other not long before Holly had Lenny and she told her ‘no one tells you how much fun it’s going to be’.

We speak about:

  • Life before bach
  • How her and Jimmy decided to pivot careers
  • What the first year of their relationship was like
  • Maintaining friendships after the bachelor
  • Their challenging pregnancy journey
  • Being both very grateful that you’re pregnant but really not liking pregnancy
  • What the baby blues can feel like
  • The counter narrative of motherhood being all doom and gloom
  • The shift in identity that becoming a mum gives you
  • How their relationship has changed since becoming parents

UNCUT with Bella Stokes, life as a transgender woman and finding her community

UNCUT with Bella Stokes, life as a transgender woman and finding her community

BONUS episode with Bella! Her story of being transgender, finding love and living with a chronic illness.Happy New Year Lifers! We're like the clingy little sibling that can't stay away from you so today we are bringing you a special bonus episode with one of our OG Lifers! It's an interview that has been requested by quite literally hundreds of you!Meet Bella, a founding member of the life uncut discussion group and a ray of sunshine in your facebook feeds! Over the past two years Bella has been so open and vulnerable with her transition journey, and also about finding love and living with chronic kidney disease. In this episode we sit down with Bella to speak about what her experiences were like realising her identity, sharing that knowledge with her friends and family and some of the challenges that the trans community face at the moment. We speak about how she navigated dating, how she chose her name and what is involved in gender reassignment. A big thing from this conversation is that gender reassignment surgery costs are extravagant (around the $30k mark) and not supported through medicare so there is a gofundme organised to help Bella with these costs. Kink is having a bit of a moment in time! What used to be something that was criminalised and frowned upon is now being spoken about and portrayed on our screens! ASK UNCUT - I love you, but I don't want to buy property with you

Happy Ask Uncut day Lifers,Today we are starting the episode with a bit of low brow lols. We find out just how much we'd need to pay both Britt and Laura to send us a jar of their farts. Everyone has a price amiright?!Jumping into your questions for today:1. My partner didn't invite me to his work Christmas party and partners are invited. I'm pregnant and we have a 1 year old, but I'm hurt and wondering if I should be suspicious of this?2. I'm in a loving relationship but I've never been with anyone else. My boyfriend loves me so much and sees a future with me. I want to experience other people. I don't think he will be okay if I end things though. Help!3. My partner of 4 years and I had a plan to buy a house together. They've just told me that now they want to buy a house themselves. What am I meant to do? What does this mean about their commitment to me and our relationship? If you've loved the ask uncut advice this year, we'd really appreciate a sneaky review if you haven't already left one. It really helps us!Tell your mum, tell your dad, tell your dog, tell your friend and share the love because we love love!! x xSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

ASK UNCUT and the annual gang bang championships

ASK UNCUT and the annual gang bang championships

Park yourself up on the couch. It's time for us to get our therapy Thursday Ask Uncut started. Today we are diving into these questions:-Is there post coital text etiquette? -My ex has text me, apologising for the terrible way that he treated me. I think that this is more for him than it is for me. He is married now so I don't know why he is reaching out. Should I respond? What should I say if I do?-My partner has just moved into my place. I'm having trouble adjusting to the change. My stuff isn't where it used to be. Little things like sharing my space and nitty gritty things are pissing me off. How do I help myself?-I'm 24 and I feel as though I'm having a quarter life crisis. I've bought a house with my partner. I'm set up in my career & everything is great. But I feel like I want to throw it all away and get some more 'life experience.' Should I?If you have a question for us to unpack, please slide on into those DMs at @lifeuncutpodcast Share the episode with someone you love because we love love!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Love me MORE and the need to please! Unpacking Codependency

Love me MORE and the need to please! Unpacking Codependency

Step right up to your meaty and juicy Tuesday because today we are kicking off the episode with some bach chat that has pretty much every media publication in Australia talking; the relationship breakdown between Brooke Blurton & Abbie Chatfield. We address this conversation from the perspective of two people who have been in the media wheel of Bachelor finales and how elements of privilege are intertwined with the timing of this particular situation. Then we are taking a deep dive on codependence. On the surface we look at codependence as being needy and controlling, but there's so much more to unpack here. These behaviours can be due to how we grew up, other relationship experiences we have had in life, and they can also exist in our workplace. friendship or family relationships too.We speak with founder and co-director of associated counsellors and psychologists Dan Auerbach, who has over 20 years of relationship counselling experience. He gives us his professional insight and experience in codependency. You can check Dan out here:  https://www.counsellingsydney.com.au/dan-auerbach/www.counsellingsydney.com.auOr phone (02) 8205 0566In the episode, Laura and Britt mention an anonymous group that you can find here:https://www.codependentsanonymous.org.au/If you liked the episode, share it with someone that you love because we love love! xxSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

ASK UNCUT - Burn out, prudish friends and it turns out I banged the guy I'm datings mate... help.

ASK UNCUT - Burn out, prudish friends and it turns out I banged the guy I'm datings mate... help.

The soft fade vs honest upfront debate is on!Happy Thursday lifers and welcome to therapy.Today's episode kicks off with a rather lengthy dilemma/debate from yours truly. The overarching question being "is it better to do a soft fade of someone that you're not super into, or to be honest upfront and let them know that you're not interested? We discuss! We then jump into your questions:-My friend is really conservative and I think she is going to take the fun out of my other friend's hens party. Do I discuss it with her?-I'm a 'yes' person. I know I'm guilty of overbooking things in my schedule but whenever I try to say no, my friends make me feel as though I've upset or disappointed them. How do I say no and take some time for myself without offending anyone?-I'm newly seeing a guy that I like and can see something progressing with. The problem is that I've hooked up with 2 of his friends. Do I tell him? If I do, WHEN do I tell him?If you have a question you'd like our unqualified but very enthusiastic advice about, you can slide into our DMs at @lifeuncutpodcast.Tell your mum, tell your dad, tell your friend, tell your dog and share the love because we love love!!xx See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
