Bohmrich MW has enjoyed a long career in the wine trade, which he joined after receiving an MA in International Studies from Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies. He was responsible for wineries from a dozen countries in that role. He also directed a department in all facets of brand management, sales promotion, and public relations. Roger was one of the first Americans to be awarded the Master of Wine title and was founding President of the Institute of Masters of Wine (No. America). As its Managing Partner, he set up Millesima USA, the affiliate of a prominent French online merchant, then established his own consultancy, Vintrinsic Solutions. More recently, Roger joined forces with Martin Sinkoff Associates to provide strategic advice to wineries seeking to enter or improve their position on the U.S. market. He still pursues his independent activities as a speaker, writer, and educator. He is a graduate of Brown University (Ivy League) in literature and of Southern Methodist University MBA in the United States and, earlier, of the Institut Franco-Americain (School Year Abroad) in Rennes, France. Sinkoff entered the wine trade as a retail clerk working for the prestigious Morrell & Company in New York in 1978. After that, in 1979, he was recruited and hired by the great Alexis Lichine to work at this estate in Bordeaux, Chateau Prieure-Lichine, as his assistant and editor for his books. When Sinkoff returned to the United States in 1980 he was recruited by Glazer’s Distributors to build a wine department for the distributor based in Dallas, Texas. Sinkoff worked as Fine Wine Director for Glazer’s from 1980 – 1990 and built the company, which had almost now wines in its portfolio, into one of the largest wine distributors in the United States. Brands Sinkoff brought to Glazer’s included Guigal, Duboeuf, a wide portfolio of Bordeaux wines, Iron Horse and Beringer from California. In 1990, Sinkoff left Glazer’s to become managing partner of Val d’Orbieu Wines, the US subsidiary of a large French winery. There Sinkoff created the brands Reserve St. Martin and La Cuvee Mythique which still exist today.
