#072 Ethical Practise: A Conversation About My SCARY Experience

As part of my series on Ethical Practice I thought it was important to point out that even in non-astrological fields, there can be issues around abuses of power, and this can be a very dangerous time when in a particularly vulnerable time in your life.

I had an interesting conversation with Mel – a friend of mine – whose path I crossed in a very unusual way.

Mel and I both signed up to a counselling skills course a few years back where we found ourselves in a "classroom" that looked nothing like the one advertised on the website.

Not only that, but we were surrounded by people who all seemed to be in very vulnerable mental states, being tutored by a husband and wife team who seemed to wield some sort of power over them.

I used my tool kit as an astrologer to avoid signing the contract when I was under pressure to do so. However, Mel signed up and almost immediately regretted it.

What follows is the story of how we met, what happened on the course, and the shocking way she was treated when she realised she didn't want to be part of the course anymore and wanted to nullify her contract.

Ultimately, what I wanted my listeners (and viewers) to take from this episode is that it is always worth taking your time when investing your time and money into a course with potential long-term study.

If the worst case scenario should occur (just like in Mel and my case) then you should not let a negative experience like this put you off, and to look out for the life lessons embedded in the experience, in order to grow and move forward in a more productive way.

And definitely, don't give up on your dreams!
