This episode of the Fearless Mindset Podcast is the second part of our conversation with Gina London, the CEO of Language of Leadership and a sought-after author, columnist, and TEDx speaker. Today, Gina discusses why communication is the most important skill in the digital age.

She also touches on the so-called work-life balance and how this is an illusion. Instead, Gina suggests movement to balance activity and a sedentary lifestyle to clear out the cobwebs of negativity in your brain.

Gina also shares how command and control are the norms for leaders but that there is another side to leadership, a softer side, that bridges the divide through open communication and understanding.

There is no such thing as work-life balance - Gina: "We need to cultivate our style of being who we are and stop thinking, oh, well I'm just myself with my friends and I'm a different person when I'm in work. You are just a person. You're not a professional life and a personal life, you just have a life. So why not take more ownership of that in every facet? And that's, I think, going to help you have more control of the things you can control."

Command and control is just one side to leadership - Gina: "I often work with the top-level execs who have gotten where they are probably from the command and control thing. And they also have a great set of skills. But what they haven't developed is that softer, more warm side of them."

Communication is a three-legged stool - Gina: "The three ways that we reach the person right now, in any communication event, are the words that we choose, the voice that we deploy, and the body language that we signal most.”
