People Helping People: Creating a Culture of Care

In this episode, Angie Lion of Black River Performance Management and Amy Cicilliot of Lookout Credit Union discuss the importance of leadership as a skill.

Amy shares her view that we all have human struggles we deal with at work and in our personal lives. She stresses the importance of leading yourself by asking for help, and letting go of the belief that you have to know everything as a leader, and modeling the behavior you want to see in others. Learned early, she takes responsibility for her own education, training, and skill development. She emphasizes that leadership is not a title, it’s a way of being that requires taking ownership of your own mistakes, being vulnerable, and building trust in all relationships. “Our opportunity as leaders is that we get to create a world that we want to live in.”

Amy Ciciliot is the SVP/COO at the Lookout Credit Union . This is Amy’s 24nd year in the credit union industry. All her years in the industry have been served at Lookout. Amy has held numerous positions at Lookout. She started as a teller and quickly moved to the lending department as a loan processor, loan officer, senior loan officer, indirect lending officer, and for seven years held the title of branch manager. During that time she managed three different branches for the credit union. She is the recipient of the credit union’s President’s Award in 2008 as well as 2015. She is also the 2019 Eastern Idaho Women of Influence in Banking and Finance award winner. Amy has been a Business Women of Pocatello member since 2019. She was an Executive Board member during 2020 and the Vice President during 2021. She currently holds the position of Vice President for 2022.

Amy is a 2010 graduate of ISU and holds a degree in finance. She is also a 2017 graduate of the Western CUNA Management School. (WCMS). WCMS is a credit union specific 3-year management school. Amy held the office of secretary for her class during her final year and returned to the school as a graduate assistant in 2018 and 2021, when the school was held virtually.

Amy is a chapter president for the Greater Idaho Falls chapter of the ISU alumni, is a member of the Idaho Falls Civitan Group, and is a frequent volunteer at the Idaho Falls Soup Kitchen with the Civitan group.

Amy is the bonus mom to three wonderful kids, and Meme to five grandchildren. When not working or volunteering, Amy can be found riding around the mountains with her husband in their CanAm, spoiling her grandkids, reading books, or working out.
