Roland Garros Draw - Swiatek’s worst nightmare?

Roland Garros Draw - Swiatek’s worst nightmare?

For our first show from Paris in 2025, Catherine, David and Matt are at Roland Garros to discuss the French Open draws.

Part one - Women’s draw. The big headline from the draw was that Jelena Ostapenko has landed in Iga Swiatek’s section. Will that match happen? And just how tricky is Swiatek’s possible route here? There’s also chat about how top heavy the draw is generally, how Aryna Sabalenka’s draw could develop into a hard one, and why it looks like a dream draw for Coco Gauff.

Part two - Men’s draw (from 20m11s). We react to Carlos Alcaraz coming to the draw ceremony and studying the draw, ponder whether things could get difficult for Jannik Sinner, and consider how things might go for Alexander Zverev, Novak Djokovic, Casper Ruud and Lorenzo Musetti.

Part three - Results so far this week and the Mike Dickson Award (from 51m40s).

In Episode 40, we feature an exclusive, in-depth, emotional interview with the long-time coach of Tim Henman - David Felgate. What was it like when Henman went from spindly 17-year-old outsider to Wimbledon semifinal Top 5 contender? How tough was it when the relationship came to an end after almost nine years? And how did Felgate deal with watching, from the BBC Radio 5 Live commentary box, as Henman so nearly reached the final of Wimbledon in 2001? All of that, and a full review of Madrid, where Rafa's good form continued, but it wasn't enough to win over Catherine. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Episode 38 - Grigor Dimitrov - Is This It? Djokovic Ends Nadal's Decade Of Domination; Fed Cup - Anyone Understand The Format?

The headline story from Monte Carlo was the defeat of Rafael Nadal for the first time in the Principality for a decade, but almost as many people left talking about Grigor Dimitrov as they did Novak Djokovic. It was the 22 year old Bulgarian that pushed Nadal all the way in the quarterfinals, before Djokovic finished the job in the final. Is the Tennis Podcast's favourite player finally coming of age? We speak to him about the challenge of facing Andy Murray in Miami, his new coaching set-up, and why he plays so much doubles. We also review Monte Carlo, and try to work out how the Fed Cup works.
