Roland Garros Draw - Swiatek’s worst nightmare?

Roland Garros Draw - Swiatek’s worst nightmare?

For our first show from Paris in 2025, Catherine, David and Matt are at Roland Garros to discuss the French Open draws.

Part one - Women’s draw. The big headline from the draw was that Jelena Ostapenko has landed in Iga Swiatek’s section. Will that match happen? And just how tricky is Swiatek’s possible route here? There’s also chat about how top heavy the draw is generally, how Aryna Sabalenka’s draw could develop into a hard one, and why it looks like a dream draw for Coco Gauff.

Part two - Men’s draw (from 20m11s). We react to Carlos Alcaraz coming to the draw ceremony and studying the draw, ponder whether things could get difficult for Jannik Sinner, and consider how things might go for Alexander Zverev, Novak Djokovic, Casper Ruud and Lorenzo Musetti.

Part three - Results so far this week and the Mike Dickson Award (from 51m40s).

US Open Day 12 - Puke, Nerves, Agony, Ecstasy, Puke

Men's semi-finals day was mostly about how nerves affected Jack Draper and Frances Tiafoe. For the American, it manifested in a physical fade and loss of form at the crucial moment, for the Brit it manifested in puke. Lots of it. Catherine, David and Matt analyse both matches and look ahead to the final between Jannik Sinner and Taylor Fritz. US Open Day 10 - Crap matches, good stories

We cover Jessica Pegula breaking her Grand Slam quarter-final duck, the state of Iga Swiatek's game and recent major record outside of Roland Garros, how Karolina Muchova overcame discomfort on court to reach the semis, Jack Draper's victory over an injured Alex De Minaur, and a bizarre match between Jannik Sinner and Daniil Medvedev. US Open Day 9 - Sabalenka sizzles; Fritz, Tiafoe to clash for final place

It was an incredible day for the Americans at the US Open with Emma Navarro, Taylor Fritz and Frances Tiafoe all reaching the semi-finals of the singles, while Taylor Townsend and Donald Young also made it through to the mixed doubles final. Catherine, David and Matt cover it all, including Paula Badosa's collapse from 5-1 up in the second set, an awesome performance from Aryna Sabalenka in the night session, how Zheng Qinwen was affected by her late finish, Alexander Zverev's tendency to get passive in big matches, Grigor Dimitrov's devastating injury, and how the crowd will respond to Frances Tiafoe vs Taylor Fritz in the first all-American men's semi-final in a Grand Slam since 2005. US Open Day 8 - Muchova magic; Sinner vs. Medvedev is on; Pegula’s quest continues

It wasn't exactly a show stopping day on Labor Day at the US Open, but Catherine, David and Matt chat about Karolina Muchova's stunning performance to stop Jasmine Paolini, Jack Draper reaching a Grand Slam quarter-final after a dismal display from Tomas Machac, and the setting up of two tantalising quarter-finals: Daniil Medvedev vs Jannik Sinner and Iga Swiatek vs Jessica Pegula.
