64 Become Externally Focused with Dale Young

Dale Young began his career in corporate America, but after 12 years, he sensed a different calling, and he made a bold career shift into the world of academia. Beginning as a professor, he moved into administration, continued to advance upward, and earlier this year, he completed a 30-year academic career as the Dean of Georgia College and State University.

In today's episode of Small-Time Leaders, Dale shares with us how Dr. Sandra Jordan strongly advised him to consider the value of being more externally focused. Dale found this advice a bit odd at first but only to find the Dr. Jordan's candor helped him grow. Becoming externally focused not only helped Dale advance at the University, but also pushed him out his academic world to influence business leaders as Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce.

Dale's had a plan for him when he left the college world. He is now a professional blogger. His blog is called Proverbs for Professionals where he shares timeless truths from The book of Proverbs to encourage growth-minded professionals to seek wisdom in their life and work every day.
