Closing the 18-Inch Gap Podcast-EP028: The Seven Cardinal Rules of Life I Live By

Quote of the week: today's quote of the week comes from Andy Andrews and it's perfect for today. It says:

"Life itself is a privilege, but to live life to the fullest well, that is a choice."

Points to covered:

I love each and every single one of these because they have such impact. Which one of these will resonate with you? Here the seven cardinal rules by which I live by:

One: make peace with your past so it does not screw up your present. I can truly say that at this today I feel more energized and excited about where I am going that I have in the past 18 months. That was roughly around the time I resigned from my career 27 years. And I realized and still realize right now that it was not a career that was meant for me to be for my entire life until retirement.

Two: what others think of you is none of your business. There is no way to get around this one. That's true, the lies, rumors, misunderstandings and no one bothered even to ask about, and anything else out there that people twist to their own liking and pleasure of belittling others to make themselves feel more big and comfortable is absolutely none of my business.

Three: time heals almost everything, give it time. The key word here is almost. Some things may never heal completely but at least must be allowed to meet a point where the pain is manageable.

Four: don't compare yourself to others and don't judge them. You have no idea what their journey is all about. In other words don't compare your back stage of someone's front stage. What this simply means is don't compare what you see in others to what others do not see in you.

Five: stop thinking too much. It's all right not to know the answers. They will come to you when you least expect it. All the answers that I needed to know when I resigned from my career were just too much to have answered in a day a week or even a month. A year and ½ later those answers are certainly coming more frequently and at a faster pace than they have before.

Six: no one is in charge of your happiness except you. There's no question that no one else can be in charge of your own happiness only you can be in charge of that.

Seven: smile. You don't own all the problems in the world. Aren't you glad for that truth? You don't own all the problems the world. If you ever have a problem I seem to keep getting down by it, remember someone will have a bigger problem than that yet.

Did any of these resonate with you? Do you want to explore deeper how I can help you with this topic? If so, reach out to me and let me know. Simply send me an email to edwin@edwinsoler.com and let me know what resonated with you and how we can connect.
